Yep, gonna be controversial but we need to have a better flow for the bench unit, and we need better shooting on the starting lineup, and better defense at the Center position.

Start Capela and Reed and put Alpi and Tari as 6th and 7th man......run the entire 2nd unit through Alpi on the low block against the other team's back up players.

Alpi just struggles to keep up with bigger longer, more athletic bigs and his defensive awareness is pretty horrible - it is a layup line at the rim against our starters most nights until Capela comes in.

Start Reed - run the PnR with a lob threat in Capela - set the tone defensively with Capela's rim protection and KD, Jabari and Reed's outside shooting with Amen's jack of all trades athleticism - and then pass off to Alpi and Tari as the key to the 2nd unit.

I just don't think Amen and Alpi will work - which is sort of what Sam was saying - kudos to him.

But this is what I think the team should do......won't happen but am interested in folks thoughts.

yeah, this is how you implode the locker room

if the answer is putting a dude you’re paying an average of 37 mil/yr to in a 6th man role, you’re cooked

Why lower his value even more by putting him in a 6th man role? If the fit is that bad, then he simply has to go.

John Havlecek was 6th man, Mario Elie was 6th man, loads of great players have been 6th man - IMHO, you should trade Alpi - he will never be able to guard athletic bigs he isn't a good enough athlete.

I get your point about his value though - wouldn't drop his minutes, he would still get 36 mpg - just his role would change.

Right. 2 time all-star is now the 6th man, and Amen continues to get infinite minutes. What could go wrong?

Amen can guard his man - Alpi can't guard an athletic big - he is just slow to react, it is a layup line with Alpi in at center, especially without Jabari backing him up on the weakside.

IDK. The conversation could go south really quickly. He is a 2 time All Star. Egos and careers should be considered before anything is said or done.

I do understand your thought process. Basketball reasons and fit —> yes. The team would benefit and he would benefit. He would become an X factor that most other teams would not have an answer for.

lol. Clint would be so winded he’d barely be able to walk his fat ass to Landrys after the game.

The answer is more Bari at the 5 the rest of the season. And make some wise roster moves in the offseason.

Exactly, and I know it is NEVER going to happen - I just think as is we are flawed at the core.

Al-Urine to the block. Get his ass on the block.

    The trade block.

Unfortunately Capela (and even Adams) can only play in short spurts.

@ThatBoyNick said Capela carrying around an extra 15 lbs. May be closer to 30.

And Jabari doesn’t really have the sand in his pants to guard fives…but maybe Reed-Tari-Amen-KD-Bari.

    edit: what @Aruba77 said.

    Sengun $36 mil
    Adams $13 mil
    Clint $7 mil

who spends $56 mil at the center position? Who spends $20 mil on backup centers?

but we are spending like $30 something mil on our entire backcourt?

what kind of weirdness is this?
