The Rockets are averaging 107.9 points per game 2nd worst in the NBA over this stretch, only to the Brooklyn Nets.
“We’re scoring enough points. We’re not getting enough stops. We’re not hitting the boards. The physicality is lacking. The consistency is lacking.” - the head coach, probably.
22nd ranked offense during that stretch 23rd in turnover percentage 25th in FG% 24th in 3 point percentage 27th in 3 point makes and attempts 28th in free throw percentage 28th in apg
I guess we can all agree it is only the elite and erudite coaching of Udoka keeping this team afloat.
Are the Rockets capable of having a good offense relying so much on both Amen and Sengun? How many teams y’all see playing 2 complete non-shooters in 2026? Cavs play Mobley and Allen, but teams don’t just ignore Mobley like they do Amen…I’ve never seen that strategy employed with him and Mobley can somewhat hit a three even if it’s on low volume, so I can’t put him in the Amen category, and Allen provides vertical spacing
The Pistons are a worse 3 point shooting team than the Rockets. Same low volume, much worse 3 percentage. They have Duncan Robinson, then nothing. But NBA best record. Difference is, Cade plays more "true" point guard to control the offense, and at least can act like a 3 point threat even at low percentage makes. And Jalen Duren doesn't shoot 3's, but super efficient in 2's in the paint. Its like their poor man version of Harden & Dwight. Then the Pistons lead in fast breaks points & points off turnovers. They "Terror Twin" run with their twin better than Rockets. Rockets are turning Amen in "Cade" , with won't work with no shot to respect. And turning Sengun into Jokic, who doesnt have the efficiency to command a double team, doesn't have passing ability to "make teammates better". (In fairness, Ime's iso system might not help that)
At least Amen was in the dunker most of the game. And we all saw a good 20/10 performance (free throws not withstanding). I thought Reed played pretty well. Made some really good decisions with the ball (a few bad ones too, but he’s learning); dont remember him turning the ball over. the problem today was Sengun, and some of the abominable non-spacing lineups Ime was throwing out there. Few if any adjustments to what Miami was doing. No creative offense; KD working so hard to get shots. And let’s also call out the bad perimeter D. Miami was getting wide open 3’s the entire game. We need better shooting on the roster but we also need better coaching.
JSJ had his 10 game or so period of suck. Reed had his 20 games. Amen minutes without Reed were okay for a while, but have been in toilet last few games. The two nonshooter lineups have periods of good, and periods of absolute suck. Reed's been back to good last 8 or so games. Offense has not used him as much as when he was lighting things up in November through mid December, but starters are passing him the ball more often lately. Bench needs a backup 3 and D wing.
