If he does, that just makes the Texans decision on extending him much easier. If you are a fringe mid-level QB at this point your leverage is ZERO!!! And I suspect this would negatively affect any perspective suitors moving forward. Just my thoughts.
This is a surprisingly smart decision for a franchise who doesn’t always do the smart thing. Show me and I’ll pay you is correct. Pay Will now and if CJ fails, we aren’t stuck with an albatross contract. If he succeeds, it’s worth the one year later tax that’s come with it. He hasn’t had one down year. He’s had two in a row and ended with two terrible playoff showings. You cannot extend him in case year four plays out like two and three.
His agent is a scumbag. I'm glad they were smart and didn't pay him. He's going to pout and my guess not prove anything because he isn't good and mentally fragile
I can't believe this is even a question after 2 seasons of mind numbing mediocrity and the worst playoff performance of all time. NO, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE, IS STROUD WORTH $60 MILLION A YEAR. HALF THAT IS THE BEST HE'LL GET, OR CUT HIM LOOSE. GET a 1st and 2nd rounder for a team willing to gamble. That's not the Texans- they are ready to compete as is. Get the boring dependable guys like Cousins and Davis Mills to do the work for pennies on the dollar and spend money on the elite defense. S I M P L E.
I am still not over it. The Offseason Happy Machine is already cranked up. Not buying it. I would love to see Caserio sent back to NE. Maybe he could screw that team up.
Just to put it into perspective, CJ Stroud's current salary is about $50 a minute, and that's getting paid every minute of every day of the year.
The right thing to do is wait on CJ's 4th year. Trade him later if his 4th year is a repeat of the previous 2.
