After sizzling hot for 3 months, his shooting has cooled down quite a bit. Not sure if it's just a slump or the law of average is catching up. More concerning is that his aggressiveness is lacking too.
For his career, Tari's scoring rate and scoring efficiency is higher at starting. The Rockets Net Rating is through the roof when he's starting even with this slump. The idea that Tari is better off the bench does not match what has happened unless one only looks at a piece of the data that supports one's position. Maybe there are better starters than Tari, but Tari does better with better teammates.
Regression to the mean. I'd been expecting something like this, honestly. I do think he has improved as a jump shooter, but he was never going to be a nearly 50% guy, nobody is that good. Hopefully he can turn it back on to some degree and finish the season around 40%.
I think everyone expected Tari to cool down from 3. He was shooting almost 50% from deep which was totally out of the norm for him. His aggressiveness going down isn't a surprise to me either as he was put into the starting lineup. He's the fifth option on offense, possibly fourth at best now. His shot attempts haven't gone up despite the bump in minutes because he can't justify taking shots away from KD or Sengun and Jabari is on a heater recently.
I would argue to bench Thompson and start Reed. I rather have 4 shooters rather than 3 shooters on the court whenever possible.
I think something is up with him. He just doesn't look like the same guy out there now. His energy level and focus seem to be lacking and sometimes it's like he doesn't know why he's out there.
He was in a funk at the beginning of the season. We thought it might have something to do with the contract thing. Then he's good. Now he seems to be in a funk again.
If this [whatever it is] lasts only ~3 games again, I'm good with it. We'll see, but the timing is terrible with how Jabari and Reed have been shooting the ball recently.
Tari plays this way = he's in a slump. Jalen plays this way for season after season after season = hnnnngggggggggggggggg he's a superstar. I'll never not reiterate just how braindead Jalen fans are, every chance I get. For the absolute f*ckery those clowns put Clutchfans through for four years. Anyway, Tari has been atrocious lately. Imagine if we pretended he was our best player and force fed him constantly hahahaha.
I'm not going to lie - there is something about Tari's health that scares me as a significant investment. I know it's a little bit of the play style, but having a motor like Tari is not necessarily a model for longevity.
No problem with the Jalen obsession - it's sad but do you - just try and stop the gloating jinx please, since you've been doing this all season, both Amen and Sengun have looked pretty shite.
