Days before the 36,000 killed, it's surely higher now. The most comprehensive surveys done at scale -

    Key Findings on Public Opinion
    • High Opposition: A confidential survey commissioned by Iran's presidency reportedly showed 92% of Iranians oppose the regime. Independent GAMAAN studies have found that 70-80% of Iranians want to move past the Islamic Republic.
    • Regime Change Support: Studies indicate that 81% to 84% of Iranians desire a change in the political system.
    • Desire for Democracy: Roughly 89% of Iranians support a democratic system, according to research.
    • Political Structure Preference: While many support change, there is no single consensus on the replacement, though options include a secular republic (26%) or a monarchy (21%).
Iran protests 2026: our surveys show Iranians agree more on regime change than what might come next

Our surveys consistently show that the majority shares a consensus on what it does not want. Across provinces, rural and urban areas, age groups and gender, roughly 70–80% say they would not vote for the Islamic Republic.

You do know Iran has been shooting at their civilians indiscriminately, right?

I've been to Iran before many times. My wife is shiite and visits every year. The overwhelming majority of locals are working class and uneducated and very brainwashed. The overwhelming majority of Iranians will not greenlight a puppet regime. You know absolutely nothing about the country.

    Headlines like this won't help

    Two things.
The title of this thread should be changed
There is nothing "All out" about this war/action.

2nd, regardless of my position on these attacks, I will pray for my fellow armed forces members. It's what you sign up for but pray it never happens.

    Aim high!!

So if a government's approval rating hits 30% or less, then bombing that country is the right thing to do right?

You’re a ****ing moron if you believe any of this.

I didn’t think we had people this gullible. Yes, Iran was going to strike despite every logical outcome suggesting that would have no strategic benefit whatsoever

Oh wow, you have a friend who is black!

Unfortunately, your wife's opinion does not overshadow that of the 80,000 respondents INSIDE Iran in this survey

Analytical Report on “Iranians’ Political Preferences in 2024” – Gamaan

Section One: The Islamic Republic and Political Orientations
    • A significant majority of Iranians (around 70%) oppose the continuation of the Islamic Republic. The highest level of opposition (81%) occurred during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising.
    • The dominant political orientation in society is “regime change as a precondition for change” (approximately 40%), followed by “structural transformation and transition from the Islamic Republic.” Support for regime change is more prevalent among the youth and the educated population.

Numbers skew even higher when you only include the educated. Basically, they tried Islamic authoritarianism for 50 years, fell rapidly behind and had a terribly quality of life while experiencing mass brain drain. Now it's time for something new that allows foreign investment and incentives for Iranians to build up their great land. It's not the move I would make, but it's a populist move and why Trump did it.

Complete selection bias. In the past most Iranians have been against the current govt, but also understand that the reason the current govt is in place is because of constant intervention and upheavel of their govt for outside interests.

currently very few support this, I have Persian family members. Very few are going to be public and admit it due to political backlash and the current climate. You’re under the impression most support it because those are folks you know and folks that are comfortable voicing their opinions

I just wanted to understand his position. It sounds like he's saying any country where the government's approval rating is below 30% - we should take that as a good reason to bomb them.

As I've stated many times, not that move I would make. I don't believe outside forces will ever deradicalize Islam, it's a decision they have to make themselves. Heavy sanctions and nuclear disarmament is the load management way. But it's clearly a populist move by Trump and supported by the majority of Iranians. Multiple wide scale polls show this.

The question is if they'll act on it when there's no clear vision for the future as Pahlavi hasn't had a chance to communicate with the large uneducated crowd who will always recede to the safety of Islam.

The risk of the war is that it could create a power vacuum in Iran, which could give rise to radical forces and plunge the US into a much wider war if the US doesn’t have a succession plan in place. However, Iran is at its weakest moment right now.
