Are you really that callous? The man was a lawful refugee. He was admitted into the country because he was a member of a group that was being killed in a genocide. Some would argue that he shouldn't have been detained, but the Supreme Court recently ruled that DHS can racially profile people. I'm not arguing for or against that.

We don't know the circumstances of his death yet. But, he should've been released immediately once he was determined to be a lawful resident and dropped back home instead of five miles away especially once they realized he was blind. But, it is hard to take CBP's statements at face value after their recent dishonesty in the murder of an American citizen.

There's a basic lack of humanity here that is very hard to square.

 

I want to see him tease this out a bit. Imagine a scenario where their home countries don't accept them again. It's not hard to imagine and happens at a small scale right now. Let's say that the Trump administration secures an agreement from a country Chad to accept all of them into a desert prison camp. We pay for the facilities and the Chadian government eventually decides to kill all of them instead of attempting repatriation. Is that "whatever it takes" worth it to him?

 

As they say, the cruelty is the point with this regime.
