OK, so everyone has seen Reed hitting his 3's at a high clip lately. Plus setting up teammates. He's making his case on the offensive side of the ball.

Let me call attention to where he currently is on the defensive side. He had some good moments against the Magic but also some trouble, especially against Bane. So the question in that game was whether his offensive contributions would outweigh his defensive liabilities. And they definitely did.

But for the nerds: Take a look at his on-ball defense against the Kings. Yes, a weak team, but still: Check out his performance at these moments:

1st quarter: 9:50, 9:15, 8:30, 7:00, 6:00, then right at the end of the quarter
2nd: 6:50, 0:30
3rd: 11:00, 10:20, 7:20, 6:30, 1:00, 0:30
4th: 11:25, 11:00

This isn't just a not-so-bad defensive performance. It's solid. You can make a case that on the ball, on balance, he wasn't a defensive liability at all.

Need to see more of this against better teams. But that was a full game of starter-level defense.

Bane is a turd and is well overdue for a teeth-loosening pick. Here’s to hoping that Sengun keeps freeing Reed up around half court with some MAJOR collisions.
