Right now, there are only two players in the NBA under 23 years old who are shooting .4 from 3 on at least 6 3pa per game.
Reed getting 30 min last night while Amen started is a good sign. Let’s keep playing Reed please. Every respectable commentator/analyst says the same thing. The offense is so much better with Reed and he needs to play more. Maybe ime is actually listening.
I'm going to repeat myself but I just wish I could see Sheppard in a D'Antoni offense. Too bad we can't bring him in to run this offense.
Loved his game last night, just want to see it for longer stretches! * STONE, YOU NEVER STOP TRYING TO WIN A CHIP, JUST BECAUSE TWO PLAYERS GET INJURED.....YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE ON THE BENCH
I was at the game. Reed + Finney-Smith was beyond terrible. That was a lot of the cause of the giant fail the first two quarters were. I think FS can become his old self at some point (hopefully soon) but nobody bothers to guard him right now. They were cheating big time on his defense sliding over to create a no win scenario for most of our 3pt attempts. Hopefully we don't repeat that combo. Also Amen was well below par and Alpi was missing assignments over and over until he got benched. FYI about the 5th time Alpi missed picking up his man coach went across the entire court with his arms open saying WTF. Alpi would not look at him or respond to him. This is worrysome. But result was he was benched until later. His minutes were low for him because of that. He was better when he finally got added back.
Rockets YouTube channel is AWFUL. They always leave off the best highlights and have things out of order.
The 30 minutes is nice, but Reed is already one of the most played bench players in the NBA. To get him more minutes every night will likely require Tari or JSJ to go to the bench. I like seeing Reed get some minutes with 3 other shooters, but I do not like that Amen was not effective, especially with Reed on the floor. Might? GM's aren't omniscient. Reed may end up the biggest suck that ever sucked, but I think it should be clear that Stone betting on Reed repeatedly likely were good decisions even if it turns out there would have been better decisions. I do not like that Ime seems to want to develop Reed more slowly than Stone, and that may be affecting who Stone adds to the team. Yep. Oddly, I think the potential of Reed and DFS on the floor together is one of the reasons why DFS was signed. DFS has been a really bad signing based on his performance.
Stone needs to trade FVV and force Ime to start him. We all know next year Ime is salivating at a FVV/Amen/KD/Jabari/Sengun starting 5.
This is also the same coach who was riding Jalen Green for 7 games and doing the same **** in the playoffs hoping for a hail mary.
I think the plan was grooming Reed behind FVV this season. Stone kept banking on Reed by not getting another PG after FVV went down. It may turn out to be a good decision. If Reed continues to thrive, it will be difficult for Udoka not to play him over Fred.
Reed, FVV, Amen, Durant, Sengun should be the starting 5 next year if FVV is healthy. My guess is that FVV comes back in a reduced capacity and is a bench player. Stone isn't going to spend a pick to remove FVV's salary unless it is for someone Stone wants to add, and he needs FVV's salary to match.
Im hopeful that DFS’ inability to come back from injury will serve as a big wake up call to our front office and coaches. Older plsyers who sustain serious injuries cannot be relied on to come back and be the players they were. Full recovery requires a lot more time, if at all. Fred should be ready by next yr, but it would be crazy to pencil him in as a starter. And frankly they should probably restrict his minutes and ease him in anyway. As far as Steveo, I’m not sure one can have reasonable confidence that he’ll be effective next season. It’s even harder for older bigs to regain form after two major surgeries in 3 yrs. Can’t count on Adams for anything next season. If I hear the front office talk about Fred or Steveo as difference makers for next season, I’m gonna lose my mind. We have $52 mil in old injured salary. Get a real plan.
Just read the ESPN article about Kon breaking the rookie 3 record and a couple of things stood out. One, how good a fit he was in that system. Two, 93% of his 3’s come off of assists. Despite Reed’s warts, he’s productive DESPITE being a bad fit in an ISO heavy “offense” that has neither good nor willing passers. Maybe one of our research friends can pull Reed’s catch vs bounce stats. Also, Clint + Reed is a good thing. Clint understands the mission.
Get ready to be begging Ime to give Reed more minutes after FVV starts the season playing 35+ next year.
