By the same token, Reed is usually positioned way too in the back, where he is a complete zero. I dont get it. The only way we can hide him is if he can be waaaaaay up front trying for steals, which he can do. We need Amen and all our size to pack it better in the back, not Reed Sheppard who is completely useless bellow the FT line. Right now we have Amen, Jabari, etc up front where they get beaten and/or screened and are out of the D....
Largely agree and you were definitely right on DFS, but I'll just say there's a big difference between these two things if you're trying to make an assessment of who's responsible for our issues: Fred is more valuable than the typical 4th or 5th guy because of his skillset vs Fred is more valuable than the typical 4th or 5th guy only because the entire rest of the roster lacks the ability to play PG for even a 10th seed That's not normal. This is not ancient knowledge, it's just ages old common sense in basketball. If you only keep one competent PG who's aging and just had the worst season of his career, you're taking a huge risk for the season. The Thunder had Cason Wallace and SGA as PG's, they have Topic returning after major injury and they went out and got Mccain for a pick. If we look at the same concept defensively where the rim protector affects all 4 teammates, there are no contenders who are disintegrating because their league-average C went down. The Rockets seemed to understand this concept at the C position - stocking up heavily such that we can hold up if Sengun is down or Adams is out. Stone and Udoka just went with a very amateur strategy for this season. I've never seen a GM/Coach have such a dumb experimental idea and then invest so heavily in it to the point of killing our other options. IMO we need a grown up in the room. These two can very easily piss away the entire rebuild with one more such summer.
You can literally see him growing in confidence. He's not hesitating with his shots anymore. There has been some massive growth since the beginning of the season. He is confident and he is letting it fly even with IME THE FUKTARD talking **** about him. This is pretty much his first real season and i'm proud of him especially playing under a fuktard of a coach.
Enough is enough. End the gimmick, start Reed. Let him grow. There are plenty of meh players taking his minutes. Start the revolution now.
Watch Ime take all the credit for his development lmao. It was straight up painful to hear SVG rant at the end of the game saying "everyone in the studio has been talking about Reed and how he should play more".
Now shooting 43% from three in February after a rough 33% in January Dude is balling out of his mind right now just when we needed it most
If we don't trade him. I mean if Sheppard continues this n plays well in the playoffs. Stone was right by not making a trade at the deadline Maybe they knew this was coming all along. We're just spectators
This isn’t true. Reed got 13 minutes per game last season when he wasn’t playing nearly this well. I really wish we had Fred to add into the mix. Fred isn’t an elite PG, but he has an elite assist/turnover ratio. Having either Reed or Fred on the floor for most of the game would be very helpful. People around hear want to tear Fred down in order to build Reed up, but that isn’t necessary. We are seeing how much better the offense flows when we have a primary ball handler that is a threat from the perimeter. Amen doesn’t give us that, but Reed and Fred do. Reed is the future and he should be getting big minutes. But having another competent playmaker would be helpful. I wish we had Adams, Fred, and everyone healthy for the playoffs to see what we could really do.
Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself, but I can absolutely see a world where Sheppard is our leading scorer, Sengun is our assist and rebound leader, and Amen fills the stat-sheet while guarding the opposing team's best player at an First Team All Defense level.
