I've seen this brought up before about Kawhi....But he never was as bad a shooter as Amen is... Also, Kawhi's form was never as janky as Amen's either...Kawhi's form was buttery smooth compared to where Amen started and currently is. I think we gotta be realistic about Amen's shooting and the org needs to plan on him being a 30% guy at the most. And that's being generous at this point. If he can reach that mark or surpass it, then you just have a pleasant surprise...But right now he's shooting 14% on pull up threes. You can't be a pg and not be able to shoot off the dribble. On another note.... When dribbling above the break, being the primary ball handler....AKA the PG.....There's ONE guy on this team that should get a majority of those touches. It's been painfully obvious to most since the news of Fred going down. Reed Sheppard...And despite the turnovers, KD should be second....Amen should not be in this conversation...Matter of Fact, Holiday or Davison should probably get about 5-10 mins a game if there are times when neither Reed or KD are on the floor. If you aren't a threat at all to shoot off the dribble, you cannot consistently initiate offense in 2026.
I I am very worried if the coaching staff screws up he goes to another team and becomes Curry 2.0, hope that won’t be the case!
Hin going to another team is on the FO not the coaching staff. Stone is a big Reed fan chose him over Castle and said he was the no 1 prospect in the draft
I think it will be a couple of seasons till we really see Amen's shooting progress. Pretty sure he changed his shooting form in the off season and i don't think we'll see any drastic changes until next season. Sometimes his shooting form looks pretty good, so obviously he has been working on it. Other times he is heaving it from the waist and it just looks terrible. There's a lot of inconsistency in his shooting mechanic at the moment and i'm sure it's because he is working on his shooting touch.
That all could be true. But Amen becoming a threat shooting the ball isn't something I'd bank or plan on. If it happens, great. Even better. And I know Amen is a basketball junkie and I've got no doubt he's got great shooting coaches and great work ethic. Just not going to assume Amen becoming a good shooter is a given based on how far he has to go.
Let's give Clint Capela some flowers. He looked the most energized I've seen him all season. Can't help but feel it was some motivation from the dumbass Ayton comments.
Last night I'm watching the game and cant comprehend how old Wagner has gotten...I'm like is he sick?! This morning I am googling and find out they have a guy called Moe Wagner on the team thats 5 years older LOL
The fact Thompson has improved his free-throw shooting to above 80% tells me he should at least have a reliable mid-range shot. That indicates some of his shooting struggles are mental and confidence based. There is hope if he can get with a good sports psychologist.
or he's moving too fast and every shot is still improvised and rushed in weird ways. The game has not yet slowed down for him. Someone in the game thread last night commented on how calm Jabari seems and that it looks like the game has slowed down for him, allowing him to get off relaxed, reproducible shots. Eye test seems to confirm that. I don't think Amen is there yet, but like a lot of others I think over time the same thing will happen with Amen. I'm sure the Rockets organization expects and is banking on that. Folks just need to be patient with development, every player is different.
This was the best win @ Orlando since the 1995 Finals Game One (when Houston overcame a 20-point deficit).
