It was Udoka. He changed the expectations, how they prepared and what was/is expected of them. They respect Udoka and that wasn’t the case with Silas. Udoka also ended the Stone amateur hour with signing guys like KPJ, Wood - sitting in on practices and over looking absences by players and bad attitudes. Stone more than anything deserves credit for selling TF on the rebuild and he also is very cautious so he avoids major mistakes.
Also, Jabari with another underrated performance--near perfect shooting and solid defense as usual. I hold him in high regard and soon, everyone in the NBA will see how well-regarded he is! I really hope the ankle sprain isn't serious, I'm glad he was able to walk off under his own power at least. The Reed/Bari/KD/Tari lineup needs more burn! I can imagine Alpi just salivating at the space, or Amen having free drives to the hoop every single time when Alpi is off.
I think we will be like Memphis Grit and Grind - good but not a real threat to win a title. Only way I see that changing is Sheppard or Amen becoming a star …. and that’s a big ask.
Unfortunately, I think that’s a good comparison. Sengun gives me Memphis Pau vibes, an all star caliber player who is likely best suited as a number 2 on a contending tram.
Play of the game for me: We're down 19 and Durant goes right at the basket giving his body up to turn things around. He gets the call, hits both free throws and the game went the Rockets way immediately afterwards. Great play by Durant. Probably not even a highlight but it made all the difference. He stopped the bleeding.
KD is something else… scandalous… petty and ashy kneed… but my man drops 40 points on all world efficiency at 37 years old and most the people watching the game aren’t even aware. He has flaws but he is at worst one of the 5 best volume overall shooters in NBA history and may be #1.
It was - and Silas didn’t say a damn thing until John Lucas met with Silas and told him to put an end to it or he would never be respected around the league.
Yeah I'm not giving him credit for taking a punt on a Whitus tip tbh. And even Sengun looks like he actually did already hit his ceiling after all. 1.5 year peak sucks but it is what it is I guess.
Silas was a tanking coach and I dunno did anyone ever disrespect Silas? As a player you should respect every coach people who go around disrespecting their coach unless you are a superstar like Lebron or KD you dont have enough cache to be doing that. We had that amateur hour because we were tanking. You cant rebuild unless your players are playing bad and you lose games.
The Rockets finally won a back to back. Good deal! I didn't watch, I was at my daughter's volleyball game.
Stone was just making sure the team was bad so we could tank. Professional or not I dont give a damn it got the job done.
What a game and shoutout Capela he’s stepped up and played his role very well in my opinion. Turning out to be such an underrated signing
