That was an interesting, pathetic moment. Even the announcers described what was going on.

But I got news for everyone: LeBron has been stat padding for 10+ years. I'll bet he's scored 3,000-4,000 points just by getting layups in the final minutes of games that were out of reach.

 

Getting an inbounds pass with no intention of passing the ball and quickly dribbling the length of the court for an uncontested layup isn't a skillset. All of his teammates and coaches all these years knew they had to cooperate. Instead of tapping out, sometimes LeBron would get 2-3 layups at the end.

Someone should document how many points LeBron has scored in the last 60 seconds when his team was behind 10 or more points. I'll bet it's at least 5x whoever is in second place.

Also, Lebron is not even close to the first or only guy to stay in a done and over game to hit some silly milestone.

Fenway Sports Group does "not have" an acquisition of the Celtics on its radar, and instead is "understood to have placed much of their interest" in acquiring an NBA team in Las Vegas. The plan is to "have the project helmed" by Lakers F LeBron James, an FSG investor, "when he finally decides to call time on his career." FSG had been rumored to be considering a bid for the Celtics, but sources "dismissed" that interest. The Red Sox, Fenway Park and majority ownership of NESN are among FSG's Boston subsidiaries (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 10/16).
