If the Rockets lose in the first round or somehow drop down to the play in tournament will Udoka get the boot? You can only blame so much on FVV's injury.
Stone came out and said that this just isn’t our year Ime won’t be on any hot seat…won’t even be on a lukewarm seat not only will they use FVV as an excuse, but they’ll use Steven Adams too we might also get some BS about how the core of this team is young and inexperienced as well to cap off the excuses
A coach should always get 3 yrs before they get the axe. That’s what I used to think before the Silas era. I wanted Silas gone after year 2 because I saw what I thought was bad coaching. I lived with them giving him another year, but that proved to be a mistake. So now I believe that if u see two yrs of bad coaching you should cut bait. Generally I believe if a coach can’t show 3 yrs of progress, even under poor roster conditions, you’ve got to move on. To me this is Ime’s first bad coaching yr, and it’s still probably going to be good enough to be a top 4 seed in the playoffs. So I don’t think you even consider moving on from Ime. Now if he coaches badly next year, I’m going to be pretty supportive of moving on. But he deserves another yr as far as I’m concerned and I hope the front office can give him a more balanced roster. Ime’s got to do much better next season or he probably should be gone.
No. And here's why: "Maybe it's just not our year" Mr. Udoka's-boss didn't even feel enough obligation to make a trade. He's not going to fire the coach.
Ime will be our coach AT MINIMUM for 2026-2027 and 2027-2028. The only way he is out earlier is a scandal of sleeping with someone's wife or girlfriend. Plus his contract is through 2030-2031. Be prepared for Ime to be here for a long time.
There is almost no way he's losing his job even after the first round exit we're moving towards. Org seems to have bought his vision. They will consider this season as an outlier. FVV & Stevo excuse is also been bought. It's just not our year... I dislike definitive forecasts but here I go. Ime is a one trick pony, who will never win a championship. I never liked the dude but thought that he was a professional. Silly me. What sort of a professional ****s around at his workplace?
When the Rockets were doing great on offense, the 1st 10 games of the season, there were so many posts that essentially said: See, FVV wasn't needed. Now that the Rockets are having late game issues, getting into isos late in the clocks, turnovers are getting crazy, forced entry passes (i.e., symptoms of bad PG play, though in skills most casuals don't appreciate)....Team is just using FVV as an excuse. Granted, I'd play Reed more to help fix some of this, but go into it knowing that he'd cause other problems that might be worse in the short term.
I honestly think Silas in hindsight is being overly criticized here. If you take out all the ancillary factors like the fact that Silas headed a tank while Udoka had the front office spend oodles of money and traded draft picks for talent, it's not all that clear cut players developed better under Udoka. From the stat sheets, the only noticeable improvement has been Jabari. But even that's more on him being asked to create more in his rookie year, which we now know he's just horrible at. Jalen, Sengun, and Tari have mostly been more or less the same player. Perhaps Jalen a bit more defense. Sengun somehow traded his efficiency for defense. But none of them have transformed under Udoka despite being 2 years older now, and clearly more talent around them. If Silas was as bad as fans think he is, then you'd expect Jalen/Sengun/Tari/Jabari would explode with him gone. The fact that this didn't happen means Udoka is severely overrated, or Silas is severely underrated. Or mix of both.
He should be, but I doubt he is. We’ve already heard stone talk about injury luck and how “this isn’t our year”. We can always hope that internally they aren’t that dumb, but I doubt it.
The negative comments from the media are definitely getting louder -- Coach Ime is definitely no longer immune to criticism.
Immune to criticism would be him being able to withstand it. I think the consensus is that this year is a wash based on the injuries. So he is immune to it this year for sure.
Of all Stone’s moves the Ime extension was the worst. I’m convinced we could have gotten a frp from the Knicks for him. Tito might get fed up by the end of next year (I doubt it), but Ime will have convinced them to trade Sengun or Amen for some other geriatric vet (Giannis) and picks. I’ve watched or listened to every game since 1987 and have never been more frustrated with the Rockets. They are fixing to blow up an opportunity to be contenders for a decade.
I think if we get bounced in the first round of course you have to move on from someone. If it's not Udoka, it's Stone. These two both stabbed their last boss in the back so you better believe in that situation they'll turn on each other. There's one situation that makes me wonder: if we somehow end up facing the warriors again and Udoka loses to Kerr for the 3rd series in a row despite having the more talented team each time... there's really no excuse I can imagine to keep Ime. That's pretty definitively a sign that Udoka is not the guy and never will be. I don't believe we'll lose in the first round though.
all Ime needs to do is get Severo scheduled for one halftime show . . . after that he's GOLDEN for ten years
If they can't get out of the first round with Durant then yes, he should be fired. But if they don't get past the second, I don't think management is going to blame him for 2 key end-of-season injuries. And a twitter scandal.
