I don't think Amen, Jabari, Tari, and Sengun will be entering their prime for another 2-3 years, so I think there's a good argument to keep him and let him develop. OKC let their young guys develop, and we are following that plan, I think.
Yeah but 4 made FG's per game is a lot man. Imagine you get to take 4 more shots after the whistle. You'd win a bunch of extra games. Brunson took over one quarter, is that a failure? I don't know. I'll take a great player being muffled for 3 quarters and having one good one. I have a lot of criticisms for this team, defense isn't one of them to be honest.
I’d love to have this conversation over an adult beverage sometime. The NYK failure was allowing one player to out score a whole team to lose by 2.
If Reed was black he'd be playing 40 minutes a game, averaging 20+ points and wouldve gone #1 overall.
I credit most of that stuff to Stone - No real veteran leadership. John Wall, go away. Empowering KPJ .... Stone kept that team intentionally bad until he thought he had enough talent to move in another direction. That's when he added the veteran leaders .... A coach can only coach the guys the GM gives him, Silas never had a chance.
Eh the OKC guys were never one dimensional like our young guys. Amen - One of the worst shooters in the league - One of the best defenders in the league Sengun - Really good interior offense, Can't shoot - Horrible defense Reed - Seems like he's a good shooter - Horrible defender Jarabri - He's just r****ded
I really feel like Reed will be better again next year. He is learning what it means to be a PG at NBA level, and certainly has limitations. But the shot is pure, and the jump between 2nd and 3rd year is a common occurance. This year is not terrible for him. And he was expected to be off the bench behind FVV for this year (and maybe next?). Development and seeing who he is im 12 months will be telling
Oh, I agree that the roster construction is flawed. That's why I think an ”all in" move is the wrong decision right now. It's better to let them develop and then make a trade when necessary.
With the current roster construction and the failure of the DFS signing it is criminal that Reed is not starting. The GM has publicly admitted this is not our year. Tari’s 3 pt shooting is coming back down to Earth. They are stupidly moving Amen back to the dunker role 75% of the time. Give the guy a chance.
Tari is shooting 43.6% from 3 for the season after his slump. That's one of the best in the NBA. Basically what he's shooting for the season is what Jabari is getting credit for doing for just 17 games. I think he's earned a "come down to earth" week. I can't fathom they'd bench him because of a bad week. I kind of can't believe you don't see Tari is a much better fit for everyone especially Amen. Amen/Sheppard/Tari is high octane, fast paced, high energy basketball. They never sulk. We'd finally have our 3 best shooters out there. It's the right trio to pair with Sengun/Durant.
