Will we win a championship with that theoretical young player you can get for KD? Its not like you can get a Cooper Flagg for KD either.
Immediately probably not, eventually you would probably have a better chance than staying with the status quo. I don’t think we can win the championship with 5 superstars with the current coach. Might as well continue to build a good young roster for 28 when Ime will surely be gone.
1) A good coach 2) A coach superstars want to play for Pick one (that didn't play with MJ) Houston's market needs #2, unfortunately. FO can supplement with quality assistants. A shame that we didn't get James back but Clips likely wanted Reed if they got Garland.
Get a yacht, cruise around the Caribbean or Med, visit islands, go sightseeing, eat good food, hit clubs, do women, do drugs...that sort of thing
KD isn't the problem, coaching is. KD is what he is, an elite tough-shot maker. That's an important piece to have on any team trying to go far. The fact is our coach hasn't weaponized any of our other strengths (1) Amen, Tari, Reed playing fast (2) Sengun as an offensive hub with shooters / cutters around him. (3) Amen as a screener to name a few. We've got a lot of talent, we ARE lacking ball handling / security but that is no excuse to completely give up trying to find ways to get other guys going. KD is a professional scorer, he's going to get his no matter what. As far as KD not being a leader and team chemistry concerns, honestly Fred is our leader right now. Long term I think Amen steps into that role. He plays hard, it's obvious that he actually cares and it's always a good thing when your leader is a plus defender. We just need KD to hit tough jumpers when the defense has taken away our OTHER options. We have done our selves a disservice by not investing in said other options first.
I thought it was premature to trade for him this past summer. I understand the cost in a vacuum vs his production made it too tough to pass up, but with the context of where the rockets are in the rebuilding process, thought it was too early. I'd trade him this summer. But fully understand he'll only be traded if he wants to be traded.
Hold the line! Assume our core is Amen/Sengun/Reed/Tari/Bari (and KD). Trade whatever else to try to fill in spots. Potentially move Tari and others to get a true PG, but don’t sacrifice too much. I am unsure about coaching. I feel like shitty orgs cycle coaches. I like continuity in our staff. Ime needs to show he can devlop/enforce an offensive system by the play offs though. This may very well be his down fall. The problem I have is I dont know much about coaches, so I cant offer an upgrade.
You're tilting at windmills on this one, DD. Unless KD requests the trade (on the very hush-hush), but that's unlikely. Even KD might be tired of the team-hopping. @Nook I just saw this. You expressed the same idea. Of course, you didn't have the Don Quixote reference.
Trade Ime Udoka for a Draft Pick - Yes Coaches get traded for a Pick. Hire High IQ Offense and Defense IQ Coaches Trade Kevin Durant, Fred VanVleet, Steven Adams, Clint Capela for Picks and younger bench players. Release DFS. It is 1 year team option, time to move on. What are the Rockets going do with Tari Eason, also is Jabari Smith a issue on the floor.
GSW ain’t giving up picks for someone that doesn’t want to be there. It would be straight up and KD would raise hell. I’ve scoured the possibilities it’s pretty much the Knicks, Miami, or Minnesota and we would have to take back worse contracts. 76ers have a good 28 pick via LAC if you are willing to eat PG’s contract. Daryl would do that one.
Not defending our players shortcomings, BUT douchebag had our team as one of his preferred destinations. Is he stupid, dumb or both? You get what you ask for and then complain when you get it? Was he lying in his (alleged) tweets? No, but there is a reason why he's been a distraction on every team he's played for! FYI...If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem! @J.R. is right, I was happy when we got him and and I'm looking forward to when we move on from him... Go ROCKETS!!! ....... ....... .......
Hell no. You'd be swapping players in a pretty significant downgrade at an additional 10 million dollars extra each year for the same contract. I'm pretty sure there would be some pretty significant second apron issues with that move. Look the only thing we are doing here is running it back one more year with him next season, and the season after he has a player option if he's playing well so he could opt out and sign elsewhere and you are getting out of jail free. If he sucks after next year then he's just a large expiring, and you can do things with that contract potentially if needed. The KD contract isn't THAT bad because of the short length of it, and if he's on the team next year it's not like the organization will implode and be sold to Moscow.
