had some bad defensive lapses but he really opened the court for everyone else and hit some huge 3s It sucks when the coach values 1-10 2ppg nightly DFS but loses his **** on any defensive lapses Reed has
I would really like Reed to get majority minutes and get into a good rhythm. Being jerked in and out so much, it is disruptive to your game.
Can this lineup work for the long-term? 5)Sengun 4)Bari 3)Amen 2)elite shooting guard 1)Reed Tari 6th man Or 5)Sengun 4)Amen 3)Tari 2)elite shooting guard 1)Reed Bari 6th man
With Bari’s recent leap, I have no idea why anyone would think he should come off the bench. Post KD, I think your first lineup works well, or simply Sheppard / Eason / Amen / Bari / Sengun.
In the long term if Amen and Sengun can't shoot, we're just shuffling things around. MDA, Adelman and Red Auerbach can be our council of head coaches and our TS% would still suck for a contender. In the short term though, the above lineup can work. You just insert KD at the "2". This works because offensively now you have good overall handling at every position except Tari's. The overall ability to handle the ball is much higher so the pressure on any single player is reduced. If you replace KD with a 2-way player who is a lesser shooter than him (i.e. most shooters in history), we will get worse. If we lose his 50% midrange jumper, it will hurt bad. Defense: Sengun guards the C Durant hidden on the weakest SG/SF/PF, who he can easily cheat off to give us some blocks with that wingspan Tari grabs the 2nd most dangerous SG/SF/PF Amen grabs the most dangerous SG/SF/PF Sheppard grabs the PG full court, no choice Bench: Bari, Okogie, Capela, Holiday Offense: Amen (playmaking or pick or dunker) Sengun (playmaking from the top or corner 3 where he's 35%) Tari (corner 3) Durant (Classic SG) Sheppard (Bring the ball up, PnR with Amen or get Durant/Sengun the ball in their spot)
Ime has a prop bet for Reed Sheppard under 25 mpg a game. It's the only explanation that even in a blow out last night Reed plays 10 minutes less than Kevin Durant.
no idea why he should come off the bench? Why don’t we see what he does the rest of the season and the playoffs, lest we forget what his first 4 and a half seasons looked like? But I’m certainly happy he’s looked good as of late. It’s certainly a good sign.
What a colossal goat f#ck of an mle signing. Wonder what our front office will blame this failure on. God knows they don’t like taking accountability for anything.
Funny, now the media is saying what we've been saying pretty much all season. Does Patrick have his head buried in Stone's and Udoka's asses or is he capable of evaluating these employees and making recommendations to his father? Between being an Ambassador and businessman, TF is likely stretched, it's up to his son to step up. If this is going to be PF's role, he needs to show some savvy and balls. A simple, you need to start Reed and play him 30 minutes or you're both gone could do wonders for the team. This is my birthday wish, make it happen Patrick!
I have said it before - but I don't think Sheppard and Sengun will work on the defensive end together come playoff time. I just don't think the defense can cover up for both of them. Sengun is a bad defender in a lot of match ups. He is fine in some, but in others he is just bad. Reed Sheppard is a similar story. In some matchups he is actually a good defender, but in others he is exploited. Couple that with Adams out to cover up the Sengun issue and it is a problem. This all goes back to the poor construction of this roster by the front office. Eventually Sengun or Sheppard will be gone and likely a couple of others.
I am completely fine with criticism of Udoka - he hasn't had a good season. However, a lot of these issues are based on the team being very poor constructed. Thompson cannot shoot, Sengun cannot shoot, Smith is mediocre as a shooter. Really the only players that can shoot are KD and Sheppard. Sengun is at best mediocre defensively in the post, and he and Sheppard cannot play together. Thompson is your "point guard" but he cannot really score from the outside, he isn't a good enough handler either. Capela provides nothing but cheap rebounds, and Adams does little things very well -- but overall the center spot is below average. FVV can protect the ball and defend, but he cannot create at all and struggles at times with his size.
Depends on the shooting guard for sure, but both lineups still have the issue of- -Amen and Sengun both being shooting liabilities you can exploit -Sengun and Reed both being defensive liabilities you can exploit That team regardless of the shooting guard can probably win alot of regular season games. The issue is close games, and winning in the playoffs. Sengun, Amen, and Reed are players that have deficiencies that can be exploited. If you only have 1 of them on the court at a time with players that fit with them then yes you can potentially win in close games/post season. But having both on the court at the same time is going to continue to be problematic regardless of who the "elite shooting guard" is unless its like the next Kobe Bryant or MJ or something where the greatness just elevates everyone, and commands that much attention. (also by almost every metric, I would say that KD is already what I would consider an "elite shooting guard.")
Does Udoka not take a lot of blame for roster construction? It's beyond clear he has a huge voice in who gets added to the roster and who doesn't. The only time I can tell that Stone went above Udoka was by drafting Sheppard. And maybe this is the reason Udoka refuses to play Reed for any significant amount of time or even devote more than the bare minimum to developing him. If FVV doesn't get injured then we'd likely see another wasted season of development for Reed. Fred was near the top of the league in MPG. How many minutes would be there if he's around? Less than 10 would be my guess.
