They should trade him now. If you give him a prove it deal, he is going to fail and you’ll get a 3rd round pick for him. He is done. If you can get enough to flip with a couple added picks for Burrows, we would be set up for Super Bowl runs for 2-3 years, then re-build or re-load. Get a game manager that doesn’t turn the ball over and one more RB, a bruiser and go all out defense wins championships mode. Maxing this guy out dooms us to mediocrity for a decade.

There is NO WAY this happens; this would set the team back and not allow us to pay others..............this would top Mahomes and Allen and no way he gets that...............this is just silly

That would be awesome. I bet the odds of that happening are about 1%. Then again, I would have thought that the odds of even thinking about giving him a long term deal this off-season would have been 1% too after watching him choking and sulking on the bench during the playoffs.

This is my official vote: do not lock in Stroud to a huge contract. Make adjustments and see if he improves. My real preference is to move him to another team for draft picks. I think he is "shell-shocked" with post-concussion syndrome. Feel bad for him because the Texans have just about ruined his career. He has a better chance of bouncing back elsewhere.

The Texans have ruined his career?

The Texans gave CJ the freedom he wanted in this offense and added WR's. It's not the Texans fault that Mixon didn't play last year.

They did. Everyone was thrilled with CJ after his rookie season. But, most agreed that the Texans had to protect him with an upgraded offensive line. The line was inadequate his rookie season and most knowledgeable fans understood that CJ was not a scrambling QB and needed a.secure pocket to succeed long term. The Texans failed miserably in upgrading the line resulting in 130 sacks and multiple concussions in three seasons. CJ is not the same player today that he was in his rookie season because the punishment has taken a toll. We have seen this with other QB’s, so it is not unique to CJ.

The question now is, can CJ return to form? I really don’t know. I’m guessing that the Texans will once again make changes to the offensive line this offseason and give CJ one more year and see what happens. I’m not real optimistic at this point, but we will see what happens.

Whether they keep CJ or not, they need to fix the damn offensive line once and for all. I’m tired of seeing defenders get in the backfield completely unblocked. And, a consistent running game would be helpful too.

A fair quote. I also agree that they need to fix the ol.

But maybe DC figured out if you send one more than the ol can block CJ can't deal with the pressure? CJ needs to adjust his game, stand in take the hits and deliver an accurate, on time throws.

Did you see Stafford, Darnold in the playoffs, this is what I'm talking about. They took the hits and delivered the ball. It's a matter of intestinal fortitude.

Most of all he needs to quit turning the ball over against above avg defenses.

If he chooses to hold out then let him hold out all year. This would be one of the most unaware of the situation thing CJ could do. Which is why it's a distinct possibility.

Not fixing the offensive line didn't help. Having two "On the Job Training" OC's didn't help either. Injuries of course, were factors. The concussions have changed him no doubt. After the last one he had symptoms for several weeks. That is not good. He seems shell-shocked now.

Anyway, I disagree about wasting a generational defense. We could have plugged in Matthew Stafford at QB and our horrific offense would have done NOTHING in the Super Bowl. Look at Seattle's OL and their weapons and then look at ours and then look who they had at OC compared to the clown we hired.

Look at the playoff game against the Steelers, the ol played well because Brown was at RT and Howard was at LG. Brown got hurt and they didn't play well against the Pats. Agreed that the ol needs to be upgraded. I thought Caley did well overall and did a good job at the end of season/playoffs. Those turnovers in the playoffs not on Caley.

I dont know how Aikman, who got the crap beat out of him managed to still perform well despite more concussions than CJ has ever gotten. Montana and Staubach too, heck Chria Chandler had close to 15 of them and it forced him to retire. It didn't affect his ability to process. If CJ can develop the intestinal fortitude these guys had maybe he can lead the Texans to a SB. I do agree he looks shell shocked though.

With thieir defense they would've had a shot with Stafford at QB. Although the weapons need to be upgraded, they really missed Mixon.

I dont like CJ as a QB of the team I root for, but I love him as a man who speaks up for his belief in God.

    Me too.

I think we give CJ half the season to prove he's our QB and if fails then we bench him and let him walk after next season. I think he's going to bounce back but we need to be prepared for the possibility that we need to move on.
