Sengun isn’t the problem, he’s just one of many and we’ve seen GMs give up the farm for the likes of Rudy Gobert…a GM traded 4 unprotected 1sts plus a swap for Mikal Bridges…a GM traded 4 unprotected 1sts plus a swap for Desmond Bane Did you have Gobert, Bridges, or Bane at that value? there will probably be a few GMs out there that would view him as a young 2x All-Star baby Jokic…it would be up to Stone to find them hell, a GM traded a 2nd year PG averaging 14, 4, and 7 on good efficiency while having to share the backcourt with Fox for Sabonis then eventually handed Sabonis a 4/186 deal
I missed OP had Bari at C. Yeah that's terrible and won't work. Like I said above, if somehow we could turn Sengun into a Chet or Mobley then that would be going somewhere. Otherwise you are having to look at something like turning Sengun + Bari or Eason into Turner/Naz Reid + a guard/forward who can shoot, defend, and create to really upgrade. It's not impossible and I'm not completely against trading Sengun but there aren't a lot of decent C's who aren't a tricky fit next to Amen.
I don't think he's a terrible player, I just don’t think he's a good #2 option. Zubac and Sabonis are just good players, similar to Sengun, who got good returns. And there are GMs who still think you need to build around a center.
Ah yeah, ok. So the idea is to try to swindle someone that overvalues him. If that's the case I'm on board. I'd be willing to get rid of literally anyone on this roster if we were able to pull of a Gobert/Bane/Sabonis level swindle...Amen, Sengun, Jabari, anyone. But if something like that is on the table then yeah I'm all for it.
One thing Charles, Kenny and Shaq said on yesterday that rings true....the Rockets do not have a #2 Option! The Knicks have Brunson and Towns, Spurs have Wemby and Foxx, OKC has SGA and Williams, to name a few. For Sengun to have made two ASG and not to be considered a RELIABLE #2 Option, that says a lot
it’s not about swindling someone, it’s that someone on here can think Sengun isn’t amazing, is highly flawed, or whatever while still thinking there are GMs out there that would think otherwise and give up something good for him even if I don’t think he’s been an All-Star caliber player this year for example, 2x All-Star by age 23 is still on his resume and he is averaging 20, 9, and 6 which isn’t some trash stat line
Absolutely agree. FVV's value on this team is that he is the offensive crutch of the inept coach, not because he is a great PG. He is the offensive coordinator of the team, upon whom the team relies to make up for the coach's ineptness on offense. Sengun played exceptionally well under a different coach last summer, so that tells us where the problem lies.
maybe he could be a reliable one if we had some elite playmaker like a James Harden to run PnR and spoon feed him easy baskets, especially since he’s such a non-factor outside the paint but as long as we’re giving it to him behind the 3 point line or dumping it to him in the post so he can spend 5+ seconds backing down his man then trying all sorts of spin moves and fakes to try and get a shot off, he won’t be and that elite playmaker is likely not coming any time soon this organization is trying to sell us on the idea of the return of FVV coming off an ACL Sengun had a way below average 54.5% TS last season playing next to FVV…Fred doesn’t generate easy baskets
Yeah of course the Rockets small ball lineups suck because if Jabari was at C something was usually wrong with the preferred rotations. And also there's the matter of Jabari himself sucking. Anyway I honestly don't think looking at the Rockets lineup data helps that much here, there's so many other factors at play. One thing I do know is that - numbers or not - Amen looked like a total bust as a rookie when forced to be a backup PG and then went supernova when the Rockets turned him into a 4 and let him hang in the Dunker spot (especially after Sengun was injured in 2024) Rockets should do more of that if they're keeping Amen around
Crazy people on this board. Alperen Sengun is a 2-time all-star who leads his team in rebounds and assists (at center!), and is second in scoring only to the 6th greatest scorer of all-time. The Ringer ranks him as the 18th best player in the NBA, and he's ranked 25th best by ESPN. He's locked into a long-term deal and is only 23. Speaking of which, Amen Thompson is also 23 and will be seeking a massive extension despite the fact that his FG%, 3pt%, rebounds, and stocks are all down from last year. The only thing he leads his team in is minutes and steals - he averages 1.5 a game, just barely ahead of the 1.4 averaged by... Alperen Sengun. There are a lot of teams that would love to trade for a star like Alperen Sengun. There are probably a few teams willing to overpay a glorified role-player like Amen Thompson, but I hope we aren't one of them.
This is what amazes me. People on here just want to trade away players they don't want. But if these guys are as bad as you think, why do you think other teams will give you anything valuable for them?
Hehe, these idiots think that Stone is gonna be able to pull a sneak attack. They think there’s another GM out there that’s dumber than him. LOL
Sengun is still a young blue chip player on a pretty good long term contract.... I think he's pretty valuable and definitely the most valuable asset we currently have. I would highly consider Sengun over Amen if it comes to it. But for the sake of the GARM and the thread...I think Giannis would be the Rockets main target in the offseason Sengun + Eason + salary + 2032 draft pick + best 2029 pick (PHX/DAL/BKN) + best 2027 pick (PHX/BKN). Feels like it would be hard for another team to beat a blue chip young player (on a long term deal), paying Eason, and some potentially good picks. FVV Amen Jabari Durant Giannis Feels like Amen would have to sign a Sengun like extension.
Morey was not allowed to pick inside the Top 5 until Edgecombe and he went East...... I guess Jeremy Lamb was 12th overall, Marcus Morris 14th.....Royce 16th, Dmo 18th....
