cant scheme better if 2 of your starters cant shoot more than 10 ft. Worked in hakeem’s and jordan’s day but not against today’s zone defenses. I don’t care if you’re Phil Jackson or Greg Popovich. You can’t win with this personnel.
Beginning to wonder if it’s Udoka who is making the player moves and not entirely Stone. Gotta think if Udoka spoke up at trade deadline a deal would have been made.
I didn’t realize we were comparing Udoka to average Joes, that’s really the level playing field you want for him? By every objective metric Udoka was an NBA scrub More than half a job is professionalism, meaning raging alcoholics, drug users , domestic abusers still fail at their jobs even if on court performance isn’t to that degree. You’re intepreting it as hate but you will rarely find either player or coaches being let go for professionalism, the bar in the NBA for it already quite low
I’ve never seen someone use this as a point when your comparison is literal tanking. So yes, the rockets aren’t deliberately throwing games for picks. How nice for Udoka to have improved from that. It’s so nice to be improving from that. I’m glad we have another 10 years of Katie’s prime too. How dare people have standards
The only r****d here is Ime Udoka. Yeah, let’s keep banging our head against the wall. Because reasons. Because 52 wins. Because 2 seed. Because “better than Silas.” Because defense? There y’all go again. Silas is the Gold Standard™ of Rockets basketball and everything shall be judged against that! “He doesn’t have a superstar.” “He has his superstar but he’s old and doesn’t have his point guard.” “He has his old superstar and his point guard but he doesn’t have _____.” No, Mike Malone isn’t the answer either. TS% Udoka 25-26 56.9(22nd) 24-25 55.3(24th) 23-24 56.5(24th) Silas 22-23 55.4(28th) 21-22 56.5(18th) 20-21 55.3(27th)
Wtf? They were intentionally losing before him. Then they (Ime) were given the green light to win, drafted two more top 5 picks (to give him 6 core young players) and spent $90m annual salary on players. Had a great regular season in 24-25. Spent another $23m per year. He's missed the playoffs once and got booted in the first round by a lower seed. How low is your self worth that you believe we should be winning 40-something games right now? Or that people are r****ded for saying we shouldn't have a bottom 5 TS% after he's built this team to his liking and last summer voluntarily brought in even more rebounders and defenders who can't shoot? Update your stance, you're at least a year late with your take.
Hey man, stop making a big deal about it. Tell that individual it’s ok if her significant other is a bum and cheats on her daily. The guy before would beat her and cheat so at least it’s an improvement . You need to temper your expectations
Malone did coach up/develop OG Jokic, maybe could help Baby Jokic. There's also Sam Cassell. Outside of those two, Most of the good candidates are either retired or has a head coaching gig already. I'm not entirely convinced on... say a Micah Nori, but haven't looked too deep into him. Nori always seems to be interviewing every year so he's ready to leave if opportunity comes knocking. It's not like it was few years ago where there were more well known HC candidate on the market. My thing is, if it's only offense, you can just get an offensive coordinator and not have to lose or change the entire coaching staff (which itself introduces other instability).
And if Ivey has/had good ideas, is he keeping it to himself (which I don't think is the case), Or Ime not listening to his assistants, which I also don't think is the case. Nobody needs to be fired, they could just add someone.
We’ve already been thru this discussion bro. The topic here is coaching performance. The arguments presented had nothing to do with anything else besides his performance and what he did with his teams as a head coach.
“.500 team” You do know that team was projected to win 58 games and the core pieces had been to the ECF in 2018 under a rookie Jason Tatum?
I remember Mazzulla being on Brad's coaching staff, before Brad went to GM and gave it to Ime. Brad had Ben Sullivan and Will Hardy to join him, in addition to Joe. Was a very strong assistant staff. Joe being a good coach is not really a secret anymore, maybe a runner up to COTY. Ime's staff is still strong (above avg) around the league, but there's definitely a need for improvement on the offense. The other sorta buy low candidate few years ago was Rick Carlisle, been around forever, but when he and Doncic had the falling out, most DAL fans took Luka's side, Rick's perception around the league took a hit: too strong opinionated or can't work with a superstar. I was like: 'nah, they let a good one get away'. Carslie set himself up nicely in Indy.
Take a step back and look at the whole picture. Udoka has won 58% of the games during his tenure with the Rockets. The past 2 years he has the 4th most wins among NBA coaches. The only thing I fault him for was he seemed to be an advocate for the KD trade, but it's insane to think that another coach could do a better job with the same roster. I'd change the GM and some of the players before I change the coach.
nah. Its always been collaborative. No GM makes decisions in a vacuum. But especially Rockets management who gets input from everyone scouts, coaches, advisor staff etc.
these people think you can plug in kerr or and all of a sudden your offense looks like the 2016 warriors. Again it’s personnel. Kerr, Jackson, red auerbach, pop couldn’t make this team work better. You play with what you have. Udoka inherited Sengun and JG and made it a Sengun centric offense. Now Sengun shares the ball with KD in an iso heavy offense. Based on personnel.
Jenkins? Why? The guy who got beat by 2 lower seeded teams in the playoffs? Then got swept by OKC in his final year? What has he achieved?
You dumbass, how the hell is it me who needs to take a step back when I'm looking at the last 6 years and you're telling me to zoom into 2 good seasons and ignore the context? How do I need to take a step back when I'm staying we had a great regular season AND got bounced in the first round while you're saying to only look at the regular season? Now that's ****ing r****ded.
