They are overdue for a total overhaul, either this year or next year. Depending on preference, some like the GM more than the coach but I think both should find a new scenery. How is a 55 year old Stone going to learn new tricks.....not going to happen.
Last night they had 9 turnovers in the 4th quarter. FVV and Brooks were the vets that helped the rest of the team stick to and execute the game plan. By now the young core shouldn't need vets. They should be mature enough to close out games. The coach isn't the main issue. It's the players on the roster. You change out the coach and the same problems will remain. Stone needs to make some tough decisions this offseason and change up the roster, even if it means moving pieces of the young core to do so.
The guard play is a problem. Its just stating the obvious at this point. Ime can’t coach it up or x & o around it and Stone hasn’t addressed it up to this point. Ime needs to get his act together rotation-wise, His rotations are idiotic at times. The players are a clunky fit together and leadership is failing them.
I agree. The development of the core has been a big concern of mine. At some point you wonder if it’s just bad coaching or are some of these players not as good as you thought. We are playing sloppy stupid basketball. And while I definitely think some of it is on the coaching, I think the roster construction is pretty bad. I don’t trust Stone to fix this though. We need to stop letting a lawyer make basketball talent decisions.
Even when Ime had Fred they lost a bunch of 4th quarter leads. This is a pattern no matter who he has had including in Boston. Our offense was trash last year with Fred and Dillon. Missing Fred isnt the issue. Its Ime.
He had a post game comment on “amen and Reed need to get us into our sets not freestyle” coming from a guy tha played no offense in the NBA lol. I’m sure our players instincts are constantly to improvise while he keeps telling us to dump the ball to Durant iso every play
I just showed you the statistics from last year to this year in the 4th quarter. More turnovers, less points, greater - differential. He changed the roster significantly and the results are the same. That is on Ime and Stone.
Ime is the best coach in the NBA! The issue with this team is lawyer Stone. His first hire of Silas told me all I need about his basketball acumen and he hasn’t disappointed since. Zero moves in the past seven deadlines and zero playoff wins and this bum still has a job!!!
What’s amazing is we were even worse in the 4th quarter last year. Ime does not know how to coach. His comments on Reed and Amen not getting the team into the sets in the 4th quarter were hilarious. Reed was on the bench and he stuck Amen in the corner and told Durant and Sengun to run the offense. He is a straight up Narcissist. If this wasn’t evident before these comments they should be now.
I guess Ime and the clunky GM work are the culprits, in this time you cannot survive without a deep guard rotation..... Just not working. Every other top team has at least 5-6 guards that can be starters.
That’s a bit hyperbolic, but we should be deeper at the position as most of us were saying even before FVV got hurt. I’m pretty sure Stone handed over the roster building to Ime.
best players* coach. similar mystical allure that Doc Rivers had. not even close to the actual best coach Rockets biggest problem is that they're not the Dodgers. By that i mean their bball decisions aren't only influenced by "winning". They underplay guys due for a raise and overplay guys they have locked up.
