Real question is...what can we realistically get for Ime? Some team out there wants a coach and can we trade this coach? Lol
I agree with this. Sengun has multiple fatal flaws that will keep him from being a big star, but I think traditionalists still think in terms of having this great low post center. Maybe Josh Giddey, Jalen Smith and Chicago’s 26 pick for Sengun? Then trade Durant and Reed to Miami for Adebayo and Wiggins. Trade FVV and a pick for a decent backup guard. Amen, Giddey, Tari, Jabari, Adebayo. Bench 26 frp, FVV trade pick up, Wiggins, Jalen Smith. Try and unload Adams and DFS for salary relief by giving up 2nd round picks. Play fast and furious.
The plan failed because org could not get a young Numero Uno preferably shooter and playmaker in One to grow with Sengün and Amen, both fatally flawed but promising.... And Reed is just a good role player at least during this part of the time line. Their idea to draft Jalen, Cam Whitmore and Jabari to throw something at the Wall and see if it sticks was a colossal waste of resources.....
Two things I'd be thinking about with this sort of trade: 1. Any contender wanting to trade for him probably has a good defense, because you have to cover for him somewhat like we do. And they need to either have a switchable starting center who can play next to Sengun, and/or Sengun needs to be an obvious upgrade over their current starting center. So that leaves me with: OKC, as an upgrade over Hartenstein? (Wouldn't this be ironic.) I don't see this happening because they'd have to give up J-Dub and I doubt Presti wants to do that. Miami, because Bam could probably play in double big lineups alongside Sengun. Would probably have to involve Tyler Herro, who gets hurt all the time. Maybe if they included Kel'el Ware since he'd solve a lot of problems for us? Toronto, as an upgrade over Poeltl. But then they run into redundancy/spacing issues with Scottie Barnes, so I don't know if it makes sense for them. I also don't know what we'd want from them. Boston, as an upgrade from their pu pu platter of big men. Unless they decide they can't afford both Brown and Tatum, I'm not sure I see the fit here. Could be something like White + Garza, but that's a pretty bad return for us. Golden State, but what do they have that we'd want unless it's just control of their picks? I could be convinced that those picks will be solid gold. Then there's the Giannis possibility. I don't think he fits honestly. Maybe there are some three team trade possibilities but those deals are hard to pull off and there are so many variations it's hard to hypothesize too much. 2. If you trade Sengun, you now have a major hole at center. I do not believe Adams/Capela is even remotely the answer. For one thing, they make our spacing even worse without helping us defensively. For another thing, that's an aging, injury-prone setup. I think what you'd really want is a stretch 5 who can play average or better defense to replace Sengun. But those are few and far between. Who is out there that could conceivably be available?
Don’t spoil my fun. I know we aren’t trading anybody. We will just bring back FVV and Adams and flounder for another year.
I just want to get off the contract. I would see how high into the draft you can trade Sabonis wouldn’t be that much of a difference and contract is 3 years shorter. KD & Sabonis both come off the books in 2028 just in time to offer Jokic his last big contract if Denver doesn’t want to pay Lauri would be interesting but not sure since Jazz has Kessler already
It was more just the trades on top of trades on top of trades. We'll be lucky if we get one trade, as much as I'd love for the league to let us just pick and choose all the dudes we need to make a run haha.
What else do we have to do? Continue to argue about Amen and Reed? Durant’s tweets? Ime’s suckage. Hypothetical trades are more fun. This year is not our year, so why keep talking about it?
True, but the thread title says "who can we REALISTICALLY" not "what crazy 2k trades would you make to turn this roster around." lol
Then why don’t you respond to the thread instead of just jumping in to mock others? I guess it’s because you are just an a**hole that doesn’t have any ideas of his own.
I’m not a Sengun stan, and support Sengun being used as the ammo if the right centerpiece is gettable, but this thread is making me lose brain cells. The reactionary-ness is too much. People do not understand the NBA. Sengun is one of the 20-30 most valuable assets in the league. He’s had a rough stretch for extremely obvious context reasons, but he’s a 2x all star on a non max contract at age 23. Advanced impact metrics think he is really good, and elite for his age range. He has a track record of being both a star and a winning player (unlike say, Paolo), and can succeed as a lone big or along side another. The Sabonis comp is dumb as hell. Yeah if Sabonis were much better at basketball, 23 years old instead of 29, was on a good contract and not a bad one, could be a lead offensive creator, had positional versatility, could be the C on an elite defense, and held up in the playoffs - he’s just like Sabonis!
Yeah, the idea that Sengun is a contract you "get off of" is silly. In a couple years he's going to be getting paid a little over half of the standard max salary (let alone the supermax) as a guy who is already a 2x all-star at age 23. As I explained above, it's hard to find a good trade fit where the Rockets get adequate value back and he fits well on the other team's roster. I do think it's something to be thinking about as we move forward because our current roster construction is not really working. But the trade has to make sense for both teams. Maybe something materializes, who knows, but right now I'm having a hard time envisioning it unless it's some kind of wild three, four team trade.
Id probably trade package to Blazers with Amen Thompson. Just like everyone says, he looks good on highlight reels, but does he really move the needle for us? People think he might be the next Spreewell, but has no jump shot. Timberwolves trade Sprewell too, and he could at least shoot. Id go for a package from blazers Scoot Henderson Donovan Clingtan Kris Murray Blake Wesley 2026 #11 Pick Future 28 pick Would work for me. Still have a solid team buiding around Sengun. Dont give a fudge what you Sengun Haters say. He still the reason rockets got Durant to come here. Not paying supermax for a guy who cant shoot worth a lick, and avg 18 pg spreewell archtype. Rockets dont have a Camby, Houston, Scott, or Ward on this team either.
I don't think the "delete your number" would be true for a lot of the guys on that list. MPJ, Murphy, Harden (age + contract), Allen, Markannen (injury prone). Also, PHX probably doesn't trade Booker but they at least have to have a meeting about possibly paying 23 year old Sengun ~36 million per year for the next 3 seasons vs paying 28 year old Booker $70 million in his age 33 season. *Realizing that may have been what you mean after posting this.
It’s just speculation. I do think Sengun has regressed significantly this year and it’s not wrong for fans to speculate on who we could get on the trade market. It’s also realistic to think that Sengun, Durant, and Amen don’t fit now and may not in the future, so what do you do about that? Besides it’s just more fun to speculate about trades than just b**** about our players and coach constantly. I think we need to build around Amen so looking for trade partners for Sengun and Durant would make sense to me if I was the GM. Alas, I am not, but I like playing one.
Yeah I was thinking more Brunson, Edwards and Brown so people didnt jump all over me. Its an interesting group of players. I would absolutely consider Sengun for Booker, but Im not sure the Suns want to become Rockets 2.0. Please give me Maxey for Sengun...
