MAGA is basically two groups. One at their core deeply hate pedos and various other types of evil and trusted Trump when he made outing them a core part of his political campaign. Those people have to feel pretty disolusioned these days.

The other group, just like their orange lord and savior; never gave two rat's asses about pedos and like a dude in a street brawl, just grabbed the closest, most covienient improvised bludgeon they could find to swing at the object of their hatred.

It's pretty clear most of MAGA fit into the second category. Hopefuly the people in the first category learn a lesson, but I doubt it.

Most of MAGA seems to be right there with The Donald about only caring at the level of made-for-reality-TV drama, where what you are upset about is just an excuse to put on a very impassioned performance, and putting on an entertaining show of impassioned drama to keep you distracted is far more important than strength of deeply held beliefs.

The show is everything! As long as you delever your lines with passion, who cares what you are actually saying or if you believe it, or really ever believed it. It's all about an entertaiing, passionate show.

The asthetics of reality TV drama are now the paradigm for grading our political discourse.

I would love to see what one of the people in charge of "Keeping Up With The Cardashians" or "Duck Dynasty" or one of those shows could do if given a free hand to run a political campaign soup-to-nuts according to the rules and imperatives that guide those shows - regular packaged episodic injections of forced drama and conflict to keep the ratings up, etc.

It would simultaniously be a thing of absolute artistic beauty, and if it actually succeeded one of the most monsterous, evil, dispicable things of all time. The death of public discourse through performance art. It would be like the ultimate evolutuon of Leni Riefenstahl's stage-managed image projection politcs for film with American crassness, drama, and love of rubbernecking at an accident.

It doesn't matter what your destination is, as long as you do the journey up big, with drama, flashing lights, and explosions, and do it in segments short enough to stuff into a Tik Tok so that we can all stay entertained.

Politics should not be about entertainment, but that's where we are. We're living in an episode of "Black Mirror".
