I think this might be it. When he's driving the lane or flying in to grab and offensive rebound it's all instinct. Get's a open three and all of a sudden it's like someone tripping while they walk up stairs. Maybe instead of practice shooting 500 threes a day he needs to practice shooting 500 threes in 20 minutes. That way it becomes automatic. He'll probably miss the first 500, and for the first couple of days or maybe weeks, but eventually he'd start making them.

Kinesthetically he's as intelligent as anyone on the court. I have no doubt his brain knows exactly where he and the basket are at all times and what energy is needed to put the ball in it. But then he gets an extra second to shoot it and doink.

I had a friend who worked on the movie "Kazaam" with Shaq. Said Shaq would practice free throws all day long and almost never missed. Watched him make like 20 or 30 in a row once. If that was true, and my friend had no reason to lie, then something mental was going on.

Shaq also claimed he broken wrists when he was a child and that caused him to be unable to shoot properly.

I actually agree with what you’re saying though. The only reason I called out Shaq is that some people here seem to think since Amen is such a hard worker it’s reason to believe he will become a better shooter.

Hard to tell for sure from that angle, but that shot actually looked like it was online, just left way short. He's looked horrible on above the break threes his whole career so far because he can't seem to find the distance.

I kind of feel like Amen needs to start out like Tari did, shoot only corner threes until he builds up his skills and confidence. That's where I might have to fess up and admit I was wrong, he probably should have been playing the 3, not point guard, this season. He's not going to get many corner attempts as a primary ballhandler, and I think that might be a lot of why he shot significantly better (still not well yet) last season.

Also, f*** Stone for not going out and getting a Jose Alvarado or whatever at the deadline.
