The window is 3 years Durant is here.

We did give up our only player that can drive consistently and shoot 3 and the heart and soul of the team so we better make good on the deal otherwise it’s a failure. The team also mentioned over and over the time is now. In 3 years Amen and Sengun could shoot more than 10 ft but I doubt it.

Of course. I double down on it. Sengun Amen combo doesn’t work. Doesn’t mean they can’t grow. It means with this combination and this team at this juncture and with the team goal of win now, the current configuration isn’t working and won’t work. So if it doesn’t work time to change things and get championship players in here and the right combinations of players. It’s apparent that these players aren’t it.

Reed Sheppard isn’t the Rockets 3rd best player either. He hasn’t shown any consistency on either end and makes a lot of mistakes each game. Who knows what kind of a player he will be. I just know it isn’t looking promising so I’m selling high.

If Amen can’t develop a reliable outside shot next offseason, it will be time to start thinking about selling high

Swear to god every year we sacrifice 2-3 players to cover for Ime.

I used to think it's great that he calls players out in interviews, but now I understand it's all political. Yesterday he retreated like a mouse when it was important to be a leader among boys.

Why would I blame him for that? Like he had a ton of options.

"Dammit, Stone, you drafted a guy that was considered by many to be the 2nd or 3rd best player in the draft and turned out to be an All NBA defender. I blame you!" Y'all act like Amen is trash because he can't shoot.

The horse is already out of that barn. He's in his third year, his extension year, and he's playing 5 more minutes per game, but his FG%, 3pt%, rebounds, and stocks are all down from last year, meanwhile his AST/TO ratio has increased from 1.9 to only 2.16. Given that he's extension eligible, I'm not sure who would trade what for him. You can't build a team around him, and I don't think any playoff team would see him as their missing piece.

He has a place on the team if he (and his agent) say yes, but Rockets should not max.

So who should he have drafted with the 4th pick?

Hindsight is 20/20. Anyone would've picked Amen 4th, myself included. Even in retrospect he would be no lower than 4th considering most people would swap out Scoot with Keyonte George.

People can harp on Alpi all day long.

Amen has been the biggest disappointment this season, on both ends.

I'm not blaming him for being nowhere close to what he was defensively last year, because his coach doesn't want or allow him to be for some reason. I seem to recall people saying coach is a defensive genius. YIKES.

The more the season goes on the more it's obvious just how Amen isn't the franchise player. Dude has Ben Simmons yips when he gets close to the ring lately.

You are probably right that you can't build around him but I think a team who already has a #1 on ball option and a center that can shoot a decent percentage from outside the paint might think he's their missing piece.

Imagine him with Edwards and Naz Reid or in Denver with Murray & Jokic or Golden State with Curry & Porzingis.

... and those teams would be 100% right just as the Bucks discovered with Giannis after they canned Kidd.

See this is the issues that I have with the front office defenders. Yes in a vacuum all their decisions are defensible. But in combination with one another they make zero sense.

Let's suppose Stone did know that Amen's shot was broken and took him anyway. He also knows his other best young player at the time, Sengun, also was mostly non-shooter. So how do you build a team around Amen and Sengun? Did Stone try to bring in more shooters to help space the floor? No. He went the other way, moved out from Landale for Steven Adams, and went all in on the double big lineup with Adams/Capela signings this offseason knowing Amen is a starter. Someone mentioned in the Reed thread that he often played with 4 non-shooters on the court. Yeah, that's not just the GM taking one non-shooting wing in a draft where he believed said player was BPA. That speaks of a GM who simply dgaf about shooting.

Amen needs to develop a jumpshot no way around it. He needs to become, a Scottie Pippen.

I dont know what is wrong with Sengun. I've never seen someone regress on both end of the floor, so much. It's like he's having a hard time reading defenses now, because teams know double and be physical with him, gets him off his game. I hope he turns it around, though.

Key things for Amen to work on this offseason. Shooting and handles! He doesn't have to be at the dunkers spot for his career. I do wish he had handles to match his speed. Defenders should get buckled, when he drives to the basket. He's a freak athlete and could be like a Jimmy Butler type guy for us.

Amen has the highest net rating on the team behind Steven Adams, and the defense is 2 points worse with him off

bring Sengun’s lazy ass off the bench

Yea, no contending team would pay that for him. Ideally, you’d be looking at a bad team, desperate for “recognized” talent, to trade with.

Think teams like Sacramento, New Orleans, maybe Chicago or Brooklyn.
