I wanted Ty Jerome in the offseason instead of DFS .... He was at the top of the league in points per possession as a pick and roll ball handler and shot the lights out from outside and isn't a terrible defender - and cost less than the guy they brought in, with a small move they could also have stayed under the tax line (dump ~$2m).

Not really as his point is that he could improve when you guys are saying he cant. Its like the guy saying Alperen was a poor shooter compared to joker but when you go look at Jokers numbers same age he went 30% then 31% then **** up to 38% at 25 fromt eh 3 point line. The idea that Sengun cant do that is ridiculous. Just like the idea that Amen is a finshed product and you know he will never have an above average shooting percentage is also ridiculous. You dont know that. If they were over 30 thats when you know. This guys are all 2 or 3 even 4 in some cases years from their primes they could be anything. Half of Clutchfans said Sengun would never be an allstar and now that he is the goal post keeps moving.

Bro, for those of us that served in MI your analogy is like someone saying "Houston we have a problem" to any Houstonian. And if you want some real jumbo shrimp try Tailgators in Magnolia or Montgomery.

BTW, I agree Amen is a C in a SF body being forced to play as a PG.

You are grossly overestimating Amen's contribution as a PG compared to these players. Amen currently is assisted on 48% of his 2pt shots. John Wall for comparison was assisted on 18% of his 2pt shots. And you can go on NBA.com's shot types to see that Amen's efficiency is much better when he's not the primary ball handler on a play. If Amen's shot creation ability is on par with the players you mentioned, and he has their passing prowess, then he'd basically be thought of similarly to Cade Cunningham right now. But he's not. His most efficient plays still come from when he's not running a halfcourt offense.

His point is clearly not what you are saying. Dennis Johnson's best shooting season was 27% from 3s. If he believes Amen can shoot in the future Dennis Johnson is the last guy you want to use as a comp.

I personally wanted NAW in the offseason, mostly cause I thought he'd be someone Ime would love while also provide floor spacing. I originally thought the Rockets couldn't get him because he'd cost more than MLE, but he ended being within the Rockets MLE space. So I was quite surprised there was no rumors that the Rockets were in on him at all. Regardless it's clear there were available guards who could've really made the team better. Why the front office chose a PF who was about to hit surgery? I honestly can't believe so many Rockets fans still defend the signing.

This is why I think they've identified Giannis as their ticket. If they trade Sengun for Giannis, they'll start Fred, KD, Bari, Giannis, and Amen - they'll call Bari the "center" when they announce the starting lineups, but it will really be Amen in every way but name.

For the sake of clarity, define point guard.

I have to admit to myself that I’m not a believer in the core Stone has put together. I have some faith in Sengun and Amen but don’t think they work together and I don’t see either as someone u can build a team around. I don’t believe in Bari, we busted on that draft pick. Tari is gonna be a stud 3&D role player. I don’t know what to think of Reed, but you have to really project out to believe he can be the guy. Will reserve judgement there. And of course we cut bait on Jalen who was a disappointing #2 pick.

objectively looking at the guys we’ve drafted, I think it’s a mixed bag, but no for sure all-nba guys. Still think Amen is our best hope.

How did we get to season 7 under this regime and still not have a for sure franchise guy? We’ve had 4 top 4 picks. And why are we sitting out back to back high level drafts? I don’t care about being competitive in the west. I care about keeping up with OKC and San Antonio, which we are not. Folks want to say they got lucky? Somewhat, but drafting Jalen Williams wasnt luck. Drafting Stephon Castle wasn’t luck. Did SA or OKC bust on any top 4 picks? Cause we’ve busted on at least two.

It’s not good enough. Objectively looking at the 7 seasons. Are we good? Sure. Are we truly in position to compete with the best? No. And since we are ghosting the draft these two yrs, it’s unlikely there’s anything special in the pipeline. Im truly unsatisfied! I can’t be optimistic. I don’t think the org has the self awareness to make tough decisions that might give us a chance to not just be good, but be great. I fear we are gonna try for the quick fix and chase older stars.

OKC's only Top 4 pick that came recently was Chet Holmgren, and they kind of nailed him as he has a better outlook than Banchero even due to his superior Defensive quality.

I still hope that because I believe Sengun and Amen's BBIQ is fairly high, they can make it work long term. But they have glaring weaknesses (ie, shooting) that they need to at least get to passable.

Tough to argue with anything else in your post.

I believe both Sengun and Amen are capable of being all-nba players, but a lot more development must occur for that to happen, and I’ve come to question their fit together. Maybe the finished products will fit better.

Mike Malone helped Jokic and Murray. He’s a better coach than Ime.

A fair assessment; it would be a lot easier to see if one of them could shoot or if Amen was a more natural pg. Still think it's too early to pull the plug on them though unless a deal for Sengun comes that's too good to pass up (not advocating for Giannis here).

Reed taking a big step (he's shown flashes) also alleviates some questions.
