Meyers was fine last year. He has a little more pop than he showed last year. He’s great at chasing balls down in the gaps. That’s a big plus. Play him in CF everyday, bat him 9th. Pick your guys, Joe, and go with it. We don’t need 130 different lineups in 162 games. Continuity would be good for this lineup.
Wanted him a few years ago. Not now lol. Would have preferred Michael Tauchman but he just signed with the Mets a few days ago unfortunately.
eh pass . Hes shown all that he has. I’d rather give the young guys a shot to compete and shine. Also Paredes and Yordan could play some left. Fat a$$ Carlos Lee did
Why? All prospects involve hope. The only way to build a team without relying on hope is having the Dodgers' payroll. At one point, Framber, Yordan, Pena, etc were all "hope they produce!" players.
How many games this season do you expect the Astros to not have anyone hurt and not have anyone resting? Those are the only games this impacts. I'd guess that number will be below 25. In every other game, trading Paredes for MLB caliber LF would make them worse.
I for one think with a year under his belt and just becoming a touch more wise with age, Cam at a minimum will be a league average bat. He already has the glove. It might be hopium on my end but I'm a big Cam guy.
I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t think this is a terrible idea depending on the cost. He wasn’t good last season but he’s still only 32 and had a .759 OPS with 20 homers in a stadium that’s hard to hit in the season before. His statcast page was bright red. I remember last year a similar situation with Polanco and the majority of people here said the same thing about his potential signing.
A lot of Conforto’s underlying numbers leave room for optimism. His batspeed is still there. His xwOBA last season was .330. He could still be an above average hitter. If he signs for <$4M I think it’s a good deal. I’d rather them sign Conforto than make a bad trade.
He looked like an IF playing OF last year that would be back to playing IF or DH this year except he probably can't play in the IF either.
Against LHP, he would be a good fit. The Astros are looking for a cheap vet option to mess with teams game plans.
