The way you're judging this, Sengun is a league average shooter too (35% on open shots). Obviously, he's not.

Thats pretty bad. Atleast he can play defense. He needs to stop shooting so much and I agree with him being traded for the right piece or coming off the bench but at 22 I can see his shooting improving over the next few years.

I don't really care that much the semantic definition of average versus below average. If you want to describe him as below average, whatever, fine, technically correct is the best type of correct and all that.

I'm curious, do you have a citation you can link on him being open on 80% of his shots? I'm having a hard time finding that particular data when Googling for it. Also, do you have any sources on what the league average is for how many three point shots are open / wide open? I'm not pre-supposing any answers to these questions, but I will say my subjective impression is that most players do not shoot contested three pointers unless they absolutely have to (end of the shot clock, etc).
