I suspect Sengun saying Jokic is the best player in the world ahead of the Rocket's first meetup with the Nuggets this season also had to rub Durant the wrong way. In my opinion this was when the Rocket's chemistry started going south. Arguably Jokic IS the best if not the second best player in the world, but Durant is probably thinking to himself that he's still number one. Alpi speaks his truth, but the truth can hurt.

 

There’s one obvious reason why someone in this situation doesn’t come out and deny or respond this.

Because it’s true, and he doesn’t know what else is out there, and it’s probably similarly bad if not worse.

If he denies it now and then more leaks come out, he looks even dumber AND like a straight up liar.

So he hopes he can say nothing on twitter, laugh through it in a controlled friendly media post-practice media session, and maybe it will fade. That’s his hope.
