At this rate our entire military will be outside of Iran.

Well then Lynn, I suggest you pick up a rifle and stand a post...............you can be one of those "casualties"

I don't get this relationship between Israel and Iran and why we have to stick our neck out for Israel over everything, Netanyahu is corrupt..............oh now I get it

I still think this ends with a treaty and not war. I for one do not want to see dead Americans.

If there’s total capitulation, there’s a chance for that.

Poor guy this is all he has.
To be charitable and help him I will try to complete his possible "thinking" as to why he supports this war. He thinks it helps the more genocidal Jews.

What’s dystopian is that you can actually put money on it.

Money? Isn't that the Republican way? We already had a deal with Iran and because of one man's ego we let it dissipate into the abyss.

There is definitely a serious PR war going on right now between Iranians and Americans. This appeared on the BBC about 1 hour before the leaks from the White House appeared and I saw it quoted in several places.

[BBC] Iran says 'guiding principles' agreed with US at nuclear talks

I'm going to say that even if Iran rolls over and shows it's belly, Trump is still going to attack at this point. There's too much upside to it personally for him for The Donald to relent. He needs this too much to (hopefully for him) shore up flagging domestic political support.

It's funny, sure, but social media is 3/5ths the problem. Imagine the Durant thread as a senator, SC justice, or even the President. No proof just slander...right before the election and with AI...

I thought they might wait for the Olympics to finish, but there are too many assets in place to keep idle until Sunday night/Monday AM.

They need a day or two to get the stuff in place that has flown in yesterday and today. so, Thursday, no later than Friday.

I don't think they'll wait for the Ford, but she may be closer than we think.

If they want to be symbolic they’ll use Purim as a start date.

But I cannot stress this enough, war is unpredictable.

An attack on Iran that does not completely neuter it could result in the destruction of an aircraft carrier, the deaths of US soldiers in the region, and the unrestricted destruction of Tel Aviv and Haifa. And Israel would be cornered into using its nuclear weapons on Iran.

Reintegrating of a democratic Iran is preferable to war.

100% agree with your last point, but that would require the mullahs to walk away, which won't happen. they are suicidal, and convinced there are hordes of virgins awaiting them in the afterlife.

if the generals were smart, they'd dispose of the clerics, and strike a deal that keeps them in power, with some modest (as it were) social reforms to placate the masses. I do not believe they are smart, however.

I also don't believe Iran has the capability, in the face of a full onslaught of US/Israeli airpower, to destroy Tel Aviv, Haifa, or an aircraft carrier.

the scale of the build up suggests Trump is taking no chances.

"What we are seeing isn't just strike preparation, but rather a broader deterrent deployment capable of being scaled up or down," he said. "This means it has more depth and sustainability than the force packages arranged for either Venezuela or Midnight Hammer last year. It's designed to sustain an engagement and counter all potential responses against US assets in the region and, of course, Israel."
