I watched the video but didn't find any expose. Just this one guy talking. EDIT: The CA Sec of State checks for identity, citizenship, legal age, and that you haven't had your right to vote taken away by the courts. The way they check for citizenship is that the applicant attests under penalty of perjury that they are. And you might say, Aha! Anyone could lie and be registered! I guess so. But all 50 states have the same mechanism! SCOTUS rules in 2013 that per federal law all states must accept and use the Federal Form requires in the 1993 National Voter Registration Act and cannot impose any additional requirements. The NVRA relies on attestation, so all states must rely on attestation. Any and all states will register a perjurer to vote at his own risk. How often does it actually happen? The experts so almost never. But the SAVE Act would change the registration requirement from attestation to documentary proof.
Does any iota of hope remain of us living in an informed society when you can’t even trust a tweet from “Reverend Jordan Wells”?
The SAVE Act as written is way too burdensome. Having to bring an original birth certificate, naturalization document, or a current passport in person to get it verified is onerous enough to dissuade people from registering or renewing to vote. Getting all of this done before November 2026 election is impossible. I am not opposed to the idea of requiring ID and stronger citizenship verification requirements. I don't think it's a necessity because of the very small amount of voter fraud, but if it gives people more confidence in our system, then it's worth doing. Firstly, make passports and citizenship ID free. Then ease in the requirements once you're sure the vast majority of voters have had a chance to acquire the necessary documents and proof of citizenship. Citizenship verification should not be required every time you move or fall off the voter roll due to inactivity. Voter registration should be automatic with verification and do not get purged except in extraordinary circumstances such as being denaturalized, losing voting right due to a felony etc. I don't personally think felons should lose their right to vote, but that will depend on the law. This would also be a good chance to establish a national ID and a nation wide ID number system. Using SSN as the de facto ID number is antiquated and fraught with security issues. With a more secure ID system, voting online can be possible. I think all of this can be done over a span of a decade, but trying to push through a hacked together system in a matter of months is idiocy and disenfranchise many many voters.
The presence of ICE would certainly intimidate voters. If you haven't noticed, a majority of the country doesn't like ICE or how they have behaved under this President. There is no reason for them to be present - zero. I support a form of ID for voting - similar to how we get a social security card, we can do something similar with voting ID. I think the overwhelming majority of Americans support THAT. However, an overwhelming majority of Americans do not necessarily support "The Save Act", which has unnecessary requirements and harms female turnout.... which isn't a surprise.
Says the poster that believes JD Vance is a great and normal guy. I am not sure if it is your schtick or you are just a little less normal that you believe, but you have had some very bizarre comments. It wouldn't matter except you like to hold yourself out as the voice of normality -- when you really do not seem to be.
I believe Passports needs to be free and every citizen should be automatically given one. Congress needs to allocate the money for it, but I think it's feasible and necessary if something like SAVE Act is enacted.
Hate to break it to you....... but the country IS ruled by an establishment oligarchy of super rich elites. The President has made 1.4 billion dollars in the 14 months since he took office. He is now worth nearly 8 billion dollars. Howard Lutnick is worth nearly 8.5 billion. Linda McMahon is worth 3.5 billion. Elon Musk is worth 850 billion. Steve Witkoff is worth 2 billion. Kelly Loefler is worth 1.5 billion. Joe Gebbie is worth over 8 billion. Antonio Gracias is worth over 2 billion. Tillman Fertitta is worth over 11 billion. Melinda Hildebrand is worth over 7 billion. Stephen Feinberg is worth over 5 billion. Warren Stephen 3.5 billion. Paul Atkins 1 billion. These are all people that have been appointed by Trump since the 2024 election into positions or in two cases worked for DOGE. That is nearly one TRILLION dollars in wealth from 13 people that are very high up in our government. At this point anyone that argues that the government is currently an oligarchy in the USA is not being honest. The Democrats have their own share of very wealthy people in positions of power --- not like this list, but still too many....
Political framing based on false equivalence. Citizens aren’t constitutionally entitled to welfare, so ID rules there prevent fraud. But they are entitled to vote, and requiring specific IDs that millions of citizens do not have blocks them from exercising a fundamental right, while preventing almost no illegal voting.
This WAS true. However the actions of this administration and ICE over the last 13 months have made this no longer true. Now a vast majority do not trust ICE. That is what happens when you treat people like animals though.
According to this very credible source, the SAVE Act is actually about breaking elections - making it nearly impossible to have functional elections and comply with the law - so that Trump can say elections are broken and come up with a credible sounding excuse to invalidate elections in individual districts that he doesn't like. Of course, he'll only be upset about the results that don't go his way. The law is about creating byzantine, complicated, impossible to follow rules so that any election result can be declared unsound. The orange sore loser could then pick and choose which of the invalid election results that he wants to challenge throw out. This act would literally be the end of democracy in the USA. It is a mechanism so that Trump can create enough smoke that people will get behind him when he "finds" the 11,700 votes that Raffensperger couldn't create for him, wherever he needs to find them. It doesn't appear it's going to pass, but if it does, democratic elections are no longer preserved from being unilaterally invalidated in the USA in instances where the administration doesn't like the results. That sounds like fear mongering, but I'm genuinely starting to believe that it is not.
I think a large part of the problem with our government is Fixing problems that don't need to be fixed That we spend too much time focuses on the small stuff Look how much energy is focused on stopping less than 1% voter fraud. Too much time and money . . .but they make it into a BIG DEAL The republicans often make mountains out of molehills. . . ..and then fight that rather that deal with real issue. Even ICE is alot of money addressing a problem that is not proportionate to the money being spent Do a real cost benefit analysis of the Minnesota operation . . . . I think they spent over 30 million dollars to capture 4000 people and only 35 were crimnals or something ridiculous like that Rocket River
That seems a bit alarmist. It does create additional and unfunded administrative burdens and I don't doubt that Trump would use less-than-perfect-compliance as a pretext to challenge results he doesn't like (he will do that regardless). But, I'm dubious that that's the sinister conspiracy. If that was the "real objective" of the plan, they should have made the rest of the bill much easier to swallow so that it actually gets passed. Make a bunch of compromises with Democrats so that they feel like the bill is bipartisan and then execute on the master plan once it is too late for them to stop you.
They don’t really care about those problems on its face. Those “problems” are just avenues for the right to seize power. Instead of just trying to win elections they believe it is easier or better to destroy the democratic process through the vehicles of voting security. ICE and voter id laws go hand in hand. This isn’t just the oligarchs on the right either. The ring wing posters here obviously are gung ho with a major shift in an authoritarian way because they also think seizing power for the right and eroding democracy is good for them. In their minds winning is winning. If you think commodore, Spaceghost, big texx, etc. care about how their team wins you are kidding yourself.
