    Again, Iran is too big to be ignored (large nation, resource rich, historical claim to be hegemon of region) but not big enough to be left alone (anemic economy, corrupt government, unable to project power beyond funding and arming militias who are mopped up in conventional warfare).

    China needs resources if it wants to continue to grow.

    The Iranians have no intention of being a client state for any of the major powers, so I could see them making a secret deal to cut off Chinese exports.

    This should be a surprise to no one. For years they’ve been getting in the way of every attempt that Iran and America have made toward normalizing relations. Under Trump 1, they discovered that the zionist occupiers embedded spying devices in the White House while talks were being held and they eventually convinced Trump to pull out of the JCPOA. israel remains the biggest obstacle to peace in the region.

    WASHINGTON, Feb 13 (Reuters) - The U.S. military is preparing for the possibility of sustained, weeks-long operations against Iran if President Donald Trump orders an attack, two U.S. officials told Reuters, in what could become a far more serious conflict than previously seen between the countries.
    The disclosure by the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the planning, raises the stakes for the diplomacy underway between the United States and Iran.

    U.S. and Iranian diplomats held talks in Oman last week in an effort to revive diplomacy over Tehran's nuclear program, after Trump amassed military forces in the region, raising fears of new military action.
    U.S. officials said on Friday the Pentagon was sending an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East, adding thousands more troops along with fighter aircraft, guided-missile destroyers and other firepower capable of waging attacks and defending against them.
    Trump, speaking to U.S. troops on Friday at a base in North Carolina, said it had "been difficult to make a deal" with Iran.
    "Sometimes you have to have fear. That's the only thing that really will get the situation taken care of," Trump said.

    They always do this s**t on a weekend so they can manage any blowback.

    They're not going to do anything on a Monday and maybe deal with a full week of potentially negative coverage without enough warning to plan a distraction.

    I havenot seen any one yet explain exactly how Iran is a threat to the US. Make Israel Great Again I guess.
    Basso is getting excited again about some possible war action.

    BTW has anyone yet answered why the possible war on Iran is good for America? Being so identified with genocide is not a good look for America or Israel.

    I get that the elective war on Iran it supports the worst elements of Israel, and it relieves the gutless US politicians hostage like Trump and others are to AIPAC and friends.

    Serious question… do maga people understand that there is a difference between the Israeli government led by a handful of people and all Jewish people in the world??

    It would be like me saying that just because someone in Russia did not like Joe Biden and his admin that it means all Russians hate all Americans… including you.

    Do you not understand this distinction or are you just trying to gaslight?? If you are just trying to gaslight just admit that. Because it it’s the former than that’s a pretty insane world for you to live in with that sort of delusion in order to justify your hate against fellow Americans so you can make peace with supporting Trump.
