Why was KD brought in? To have this young team learn how to win consistently or to win a ring now?

If it's to win a ring then perhaps they feel next season would be it and any trade at this deadline would hamper that. With FVV this team can go deep in the playoffs.

If it's to teach these young guys how to win in the future then that is exactly what they are doing now. Going forward they need to not lean on KD so much to make shots and figure out a system.

Either way, this team is in a great position to compete for the next 2-3 years.

I don’t know why I bother to respond to your bs insider news, but if this is true why didn’t they dump salary to avoid luxury taxes? It was quite surprising for some of his here that they didn’t.

To me, draft position does not matter, it's how that player plays and what he is perceived as being. Giannas was drafted #14, Jokic was a 2nd rnd pick, same for Gilbert Arenas. Sengun is perceived as being "Baby Jokic", the "Franchise", however I am not seeing that type of player.

My ONLY issue with Sengun is that he plays a 90's brand of basketball and it causes our offense to sputter. No one else in the NBA is playing this brand of basketball. Today's NBA is about high scoring wing players, 3pt shooting and being able to switch on defense.

However, I don't want to harp on Sengun, this is about the Rockets as a whole.

No argument from me I agree!

I was just using him as example of why people are critical because most people DO compare him to them which is exactly why people like you and me say he is NOT on their level.
But if you just viewed him isolated from comparison to other greats then you most people would say it was very good generational player.
It’s the comparison that makes us get critical.

Hence to your point , people comparing Sengun to Jokic was a death sentence to his legacy because anything he does now being measured to Jokic instead of just a solid nba player

Damn that makes it sadder then because he’s an undersized five that doesn’t have the mean streak like a Draymond, Barkley or Rodman to make up for his size and lack of shot.
Ideally he could be a better Kevin love, Chris Bosh, lamarcus aldridge if he had a solid shot, but he doesn’t.
So people are right, he either develops a shot or he’s ****ed because he’s literally stuck between a 5 & 4 but not skilled enough or mean enough to fully comfortably be in either position.

this gets bleaker by the day :(

Espn made that comparison on draft night, as they do the last pick of the draft, and the media and CFs just ran with it Olympic styled... Now people either want him gone or wanna give him the keys to the city.. No in between lol

Kind of messed up how media can literally sway public perception and response on a player (or anyone) like that.

Well when he grows another 2 inches he’ll be a true 5.

I don't think this is actually true. Because when you compare the numbers, he actually does look more like a solid NBA player/fringe star, but gets hyped as a future top 5 player. As much as we all wanted that to be the case (and you can literally view the forum history since we drafted him, by far the most hyped, supported and revered player from our draft) he's clearly not going to be that at all. He'll be lucky to sniff top 10 at his prime with his competition in the same time frame if truth be told.

Pretty sure he's at least 7'4 with how many times he grew a couple of inches over the summer.

Offseason is tough as any movement will depend on who our GM is. if Stone, and I’m hearing Rockets FO loves him as he’s good with budget, then no moves as Stone hopes that 32 year old FVV (who will be even slower than last year due to age and leg injury) can carry us to a title with 38 year old aging Durant. Hope is eternal in Rocketland.

Sengun is an impact player who is only 23 and does things without flash but does them at an allstr level. As I proved in another post Segun does a bunch of things better than majority of the centers in the league. He is top 5 in scoring. Top 2 in assists. Top 2 in steals. Top 10 in rebounds. His defensive rating is higher than Adams. He's better defensively than Joker at this age and only one rebound less. He's one percentage point less than joker on fg at the same age. If Joker were a Rocket at 23 you wouldve traded him and had no idea what you had lol For those of you harping on defense no center does what he does and has a better defensive rating. Meaning the guys above him defensively arent asked to do what he does. The problem isnt Sengun its your lack of BBall knowledge.

It's all good though guys, Imanimals sources told me they're going to trade Luka for KD and we're winning the chip this year.

Trading Sengun isn’t an insult, it’s a compliment to his development. He’s likely never going to be a superstar or #1 on a team so we need to sell high.

The biggest difference I see between Sengun and Jokic is the shooting skill. Jokic is significantly better at this, to the point where he’s a 3 level scorer. This makes it easier for him to be a franchise player you can build around.

Sengun, to this point, hasn’t figured this out. He’s not dominant enough at the remaining two levels to overcome this.

He has other limiting weaknesses but this is his biggest imho.

For what it’s worth, I’d also sell high on. Amen.

He's also a literal floor general in a way Sengun just doesn't come close to. Watch him properly when he plays, he's like a quarterback calling audibles and moving his offense to exactly where it needs to be for him to create an advantage. Sengun's a great passer, good vision, he's not close to that level of actual playmaker. You're talking absolute top tier level, prime Magic, CP3, Harden, Nash etc etc Jokic is all of that at a foot taller with a lethal 3 ball. He's a 1 of 1.

Sengun's numbers at his age are just about the exact same as Jokers was. This is what im talking about when I say lack of basketball knowledge lol You just dont know what youre talking about. Sengun could easily be a superstar as he is an allstr and not even in his prime. Is he gonna be Joker? No he'll be Sengun as a superstar. Which likely means a couple of less assists and rebounds but with more defense. You dont know these things cuz you dont check. You guys are the laziest posters on the internet.
