No dawg in that fight... but in the videos I have watched I didn't see him really matched up against players his size. That will change in the NFL. And I am a measureables and tape guy so I will def be watching at the combine (esp. that short shuttle score)
After Mendoza, there are no other 1st round QB's in this draft. Nobody's trading up to the 1st round this year for a QB. Simpson, Klubnik, and Nussmeir are all undersized QBs with arm limitations and limited mobility.
1) 5th year option on 1st round picks 2) Jaxson Dart 3) Lamar Jackson would totally not surprise if someone trades back into first for a QB
Not this year. The talent level after Mendoza is a huge drop off. There may not be another QB taken until round 3 or 4 and that would be a reach. The tape on Simpson, Nussmeir, Klubnik, Beck Allar, etc is far less impressing than Dart and Shough from last year.
Emmit Johnson out of Nebraska is reputed to have great vision. Here he puts it on display. Is he worth taking at #38? https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP89cAX6n/
Somebody is going to get a steal with Nussmier. He played hurt last yr but has talent. He would've been a 1st rd pick if he would've come out last yr IMHO. He's got the arm strength.
Yes he's got special qualities. The ability to cut without slowing down and his vision. They say he can't do 3rd down stuff, but his hands were good enough to KR. We don't really know about his pass pro.. Love did this at a high level and Price never got the chance to show his stuff.
Not pertinent to the '26 draft, and I'm sorry to interrupt yall's mock draftings, but this is the most "Iowa OL" thing ever (from espn's way too early preseason All-America team): Kade Pieper's return means two starters are coming back from Iowa's offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award in 2025. He's expected to move from right guard to center, where he would replace Rimington Trophy winner Logan Jones. What's not to love about a 290-pounder who grew up on a cattle farm, has a 38-inch vertical jump and is a two-time winner of the Solon (Iowa) Beef Days hay bale toss? https://www.espn.com/college-footba...llege-football-way-too-early-all-america-team
@Buck Turgidson you've already ID'd some intriguing 2027 prospects, you should just start a 2027 Draft thread that we can revisit during the college football season.
I'm ready for college football season to start. Here's another interesting read, very pertinent to the '26 draft: https://www.espn.com/college-footba...nking-2023-espn-300-college-football-recruits
The 2027 NFL Draft is going to be a loaded QB draft. In fact the 2027 draft is going to be loaded in a lot of positions. Very few teams will be willing to trade future round picks this year to move up. Your going to see a lot of teams punting on QBs in the draft this year because the talent level is considered weak. The 2026 draft is loaded with offensive lineman and wide receivers. Mendoza is the only 1st round QB this year. Simpson will eventually go on Day 2, but there will be very little QB activity this year in the draft.
