Color me surprised when I didn’t see Reed riding the bench and actually starting.

It’s a really head scratcher how under utilized Reed is under our coaching staff. I know this is an exhibition game, but you can tell everyone is high on Reed from the media and players from last night

 

Well Melo is a much better player than IME ever was, and game recognizes game.

..and yet, Ime made threes better than every NBA coach except Reddick that will be a coach next season.

Daigneault, Mazulla, Spoelstra....Ime had much better NBA careers than them, and outscored all of them combined. The idea that NBA playing career has much relevance on NBA coaching skill is idiotic. However, if one is going to act like it does, go ahead and want sloppy seconds from Dallas or propose to trade Reed to LA. Other than that, Ime is probably by far the best NBA three point shooter among NBA coaches such that there really isn't an option for Reed to follow other than LAL and Dallas.

 

You don't have to have PLAYED in the league - to be a good coach - but if you did play in the league, it is best to have been a role player - my point is that IME is a bad coach - he overvalues defense and undervalues offense.

So much so, that he screws up rotations and game management - Ime doesn't adjust well, and we are an easy out because of it. Him telling the team to lean into a 37 year old turnover prone guy late in the clock or at the end of the games is part of the problem - that DOGGEDNESS is something teams know is going to happen and shut it down easily, which is why we collapse so often.

Your post showed Ime's stats as a player, and suggested he was a bad coach because of it. Say Ime overvalues defense if that is your argument.

Ime's stats as an NBA player are really irrelevant on his coaching other than it is unlikely he would have gotten a chance at coaching if he was not an NBA player. I do agree that stars tend not to make good coaches as they generally can just do things most players can't.

Steve Kerr? Not sure I’m willing to consider what the stats say, but Kerr was a far better shooter than Ime. And if Ime is the “bar” for good shooters as coaches then your bar is underground.

 

We can barely get Reed to shoot when he's supposed to shoot. He'll always defer to KD when the clock is running out or when the game is on the line unless explicitly told to shoot. Sengun and Jabari take end-of-game shots that KD wants or should be (?) taking.

This video killed all credibility by saying that Ime Udoka runs a meritocracy.

If they don't know that's BS, they don't know enough to be making a video about anything Rockets related.
