I think it's pretty clear. You can supply an awful QB a ton. If help but he's going to remain bad. Nothing will make Stroud good.

When were the Texans laughing stocks and what mistakes have they made by letting go of a QB?

That had to do with his contract. His play is solid for a veteran -- that's all the Texans need. And you get him cheap. I would place him as a backup to Davis Mills and try to milk CJ for whatever you can get to plug in holes.
Let someone else take on the risk of the wilting flower -- we have a team ready to compete outside of QB.

But if your attitude is "we have a team ready to compete outside of QB", why would you downgrade? If you could get an upgrade that's one thing, but Mills is absolute trash and cousins is beyond washed and awful. Mills is an alright backup but if he starts you HAVE to tank to draft a qb next season.

Because a fraud like Stroud feels entitled to a large contract based on potential. His agent will have delusions of Tagilova or Prescott in his head and try to write off the playoffs as a 1 off case, even though anyone who's watched enough of him expected it. I'd be fine sticking with him if he signed an affordable extension like 4 years, $80 million that also makes him tradeable --- but he's still at an age where he can make unreasonable demands on the potential of improving.

And that directly affects the Texans ability to resign core players of the team that make them so good.

This is the point where his trade value will never be higher, even though it's taken a massive hit. There will be a team not quite there that wants to generate excitement and will be willing to give up high draft picks. The longer you hold on to him, the more that goes down. Strike while the iron is hot.

There is nobody to replace him, that's the issue. Who would play qb that isn't complete and absolute garbage? I'm not against trading him for value, but i'm against dumping him and not having a qb for this coming season. You're willing to throw away next season but i don't think we can afford to do that.

Except you're openly making the team worse next year - which is 100% the opposite of the "we can't afford to waste a year" argument that you started with. If you can't get an upgrade, just keep Stroud on the last year of his deal and release him after if the goal is to not waste a year.

You're meandering from argument to argument and blowing up your previous claims in the process. It seems your only goal is to get rid of Stroud.

Would you guys take Cleveland's #6 pick and Shedeur Sanders for CJ?

This is what i don’t get. Nobody who is in the get rid of stroud camp actually has offered a solution that wouldn’t tank the team. The only one is trading everything for burrow i guess?

    Please expound on this post.

I've always looked at the Texans as a marketing firm with a football division.

The Texans make their owners money and they are cleaner than most NFL organizations. However, they have been bad - had more than their fair share of bad seasons, they also have never been a serious Super Bowl contender and it’s going on 25 years of existence. They haven’t ever gotten past the Divisional round of the playoffs.

It was only a few years ago that the team won 4, 4 and then 3 games and thus far the best outcome of the rebuild has been a Divisional loss in the playoffs.

The Texans aren’t the Browns or the old Bengals - but they are certainly one of the least inspiring organizations in the league with ownership that doesn’t demand excellence, and an organizational history really that has no real “highs” in 25 years
