I wonder if he’s getting heat online about this. Houston media so weak, at least he said something.

If a GM doesn’t get heat for saying “this isn’t our year”, then nothing will bring heat, other than some woke sh*t or maybe an Italian slur.

I mean nobody asked him why he didn't have 3pt shooters when he needed a 3pt shot. The media in this city is full of poossies

Why does this braindead front-office and coaching staff have the most ILLOGICAL view of Fred Vanvleet that could possibly exist?

THE GUY SHOT 37 PERCENT LAST YEAR. Who pays these f*cking clowns?

    Oh, Mr. Rainforest Cafe does.

This is like people today saying they wouldn't have voted for Trump if they knew he was a pedophile then.

Only thing I will say about Vanvleet is that he is the most competent ball handler the Rockets have, that everyone trust. The players trusted him to be president of the player association. Chris Paul was president of that, and his leadership showed for the Rockets that season, he was with us. Kevin and Alpi are not those voices. It's like Vernon and Kenny Smith for the championship runs with dream. Competent people that can settle those young guys down. We lost Brooks in that trade for KD and we were counting on Fred to be that leader, team captain person.

Lead team in scoring and games played - 13 and 1 when he scored over 30 ….whoelse even came close … not the choker Alpi who had to be spammed in the 4th to hit his numbers … not FVV who was trash all year .. not Amen who can’t shoot and majority of his points came off Alpi and JG creation

Yes I’m sure FVV and his 10 points on 30% would have been the difference maker. Should have just went after Jrue Holiday or something.

Guards like JG (not great passers or defensive players, inconsistent/not very efficient scorers) aren't valued these days. They were getting tossed around for 2nd round picks at this year's deadline. Front offices have recognized that this type of player just doesn't have a big impact on winning games. You have to bring more to the table than just scoring, unless you're incredibly elite at it.

I too view Steveo as one of the best centers in basketball on a per minute basis. Maybe rounding out top 10-12. That’s fair. The problem is that he’s an older big that has had two major surgeries in 3 yrs. He’s only really been truly healthy for the rockets for one yr (was still rounding into form first half of last season). And of course he’s been on minutes and games restrictions.

But you simply can’t count on Steveo to be healthy. So you really can’t build around him. He’s more of a luxury than a core part of your foundation. And you certainly can’t blame poor team production on losing him because you have to assume he’s not going to be consistently available. That’s just wishful thinking and poor planning. And that’s why these “but we lost Steveo” excuses are maddening.

I am grateful for Fred's culture setting but I was not willing to extend him either way.

It was decent enough while he lasted.

'The Talent wasn't there.' Everybody on the Raptors thought they were better than they were. Competed on a high level.
