I wonder how much the NBA needs to pay for people to attend this garbage event. I genuinely just cannot fathom how an adult finds any minute of the weekend except the 3 point contest, entertaining. The whole weekend just needs to die.
Gary Bettman is probably somewhere saying Adam Silver is copying his whole ****ing flow, bar for bar lol. But seriously, the NBA needs to lower the expectations for All-Star Weekend. I’m going to watch the 3-point contest, and I’m legitimately intrigued by the USA vs. the World format for the All-Star Game (that format might actually save the game itself). But they need to stop marketing the weekend as the “pinnacle of entertainment” and just embrace the vibes for what they are. It’s a celebration of the game. Cut all the gimmick bullshit. Fix the ****ing Skills Competition, because it ****ing sucks. It should just be one player running the course by themselves. The team **** with the vet and the WNBA tie-in is dumb. The NHL improved its All-Star product by moving away from the celebrity-heavy variety show model and shifting to a streamlined, hockey-first broadcast that satisfied both die-hard fans and the media’s desire for a professional product.
I’m pretty stoked for the Asian celebrity All Star game. This is going to be pure pure entertainment especially in the threads. Oh boy I can’t wait. I wish glen rice the OG poster is here with us
