You are lucky because he is the most likely player we've had since Artest to join this spectrum of wunderkids we call Clutchfans

I like him being here, but at 37, he is not a superstar player, he is a great scorer, but in the NBA, moving the ball around helps make your team better and harder to guard.

KD should get the ball middle to late in the shot clock not at the beginning, he is a ball stopper and when teams double him he is not good enough to beat that anymore and no one is moving they are all watching him.

The proper use of KD unlocks a much better overall Rockets team.

    1. Sure in a perfect world we have a 1A scorer that can dish but we have nothing close to that.
    2. Using KD like he's Carmelo on our current roster is a bad bad ancient plan
    3. In today's league which team doesn't have their best scorer as their lead ball handler?? Only 1 or 2 exceptions in cases where the best scorer is also the best defensive player, which does not apply to us.
    4. KD is the ONLY player on our team who can hit a straight away 3 from the top of the key and beyond. No hyperbole. If he's not there, we surrender the entire backcourt and our spacing.
    5. Cramped spacing, bad shots, being tall = recipe for being an all time great offensive rebounding team. Check that off the list

I don’t believe we will trade KD, but putting that aside, IF we decided to trade him I wonder what we could get for him this summer.

he’s on a pretty good contract for his production. He’s shown no real drop-off as a player. His skill-set is as valuable as ever and he fits in with most teams. What do u think we could get for him if we decided to reset our window?

I think a really good player and a really good 1st round pick.

There was one play yesterday, that stuck out like a sore thumb yesterday to me. Kd in the dunkers spot, and Alpi just passing it to him in that spot. He just caught, rose above Dort and buried the mid range. Why come we can't have more of that action?

Exactly, use him as the target to finish, not create, that is 100% what I am saying.

Just switch to SENGUN being option 1, and the team will be better off.

I'd hope to land a decent-ish 1st round pick (teens) + a young player that has some decent upside as a potential role player (ala Max Christie type).

    would you do this deal?

grab a 1st from miami go into next season and resign Tari... go into next year with

    Reed - Fred - ??
    Herro - ?? (maybe 2026 1st round pick)
    Amen - Tari - Tate
    Jabari - Jovic - DFS
    Sengun - Adams - Capela

Starting lineup of Reed - Tari - Amen - Jabari - Sengun with Herro/Fred/Adams/Jovic off the bench doesn't sound too bad to me.

I like Herro but I think there’s some concern in Miami about the cost of his next contract. I don’t know much about Jovic. I think they would have to throw in a good 2026 pick. No way Herro comes off the bench. But not a bad proposal with a good pick.

Well with KD throwing his teammates under the bus, this thread takes on an entirely different meaning.

It was originally about him needing to step back for the good of the team and playing a significant ROLE instead of trying to be THE DUDE at 37, which he isn't...he is lazy on both offense and defense and it hurts the team.

Now, though, what do you do with a guy that can't STFU on social media and tossing teammates under the bus semi-publicly?

I don't envy Stone but hopefully there is some social media clause in his contract that the team can suspend him or claw back some $$.....

IMHO, either he apologizes - or we trade him in the offseason (My preference).

He needs to go, we don't need a 37-38 aging superstar who still thinks he is 27 - when he is the laziest player on the floor.

    Cancerous.

If the KD stuff is true, no apology is gonna make it right. Some of that stuff you can’t take back. It’s terribly damaging. If it’s true u have to move him. Even if it’s not true, you have to take a step back and ask, does a 38 yr old guy makes sense for a team that is not a contender and who none of its core is over the age of 25?

Not if he still demands to be the GUY, it doesn't he is hurting the development of players that NEED the ball to grow, he needs to go to a team that is championship level and he can just be a scorer for them.

The trade was fine, we took a shot without much damage to our growth, but time to say...whoops and move on, I think.

I am not sure how we can maximize his trade value, probably just see this thru without extending him again.

If he makes one WCF or Finals appearance, that should already be a Win.

If we had a stronger coach - he would suspend him - until he complies with being a 2nd option.....and go from there.

Setting aside all the burner stuff, I dont think most fans would say it makes sense to pay KD $50 mil next yr if we are not contending. And I think most would agree that the current team is not a contending team, even with Fred and Adams coming back from injury. So logic dictates that we retool the roster this offseason, regardless of what happens with KD.

I agree that this team as is even with healthy FVV and Adams is not a contending team, a fringe contender at best.

But I think there's still the possibility that at least one of the young players takes a leap and become a top 10 player. If so, we will be a true contending team. Having KD would increase the chances of winning it all.

sure, if that leap happens next yr. But we’ve already wasted one of KD’s yrs. At some point there’s going to be some drop off. We are on the clock and I’m not sure the team can be retooled into a contending team in one offseason. That’s why I don’t think KD meshes well with our timeline. If we looked better this yr I might think differently, but this season has really hurt my confidence in the front office’s vision and how good we actually are.

Tbh, they're probably going to laugh at it as the nonsense it is and do nothing, but sure, run away with your imagination, I don't blame you with this long a wait between games.
