Yeah, three out of four of his biggest offseason moves have blown up in his face so far. Re-signing Fred, re-signing Adams, signing DFS. KD has been good, but feels like a ticking time bomb at age 37. GMs can't control injuries, but we had plenty of existing reasons to be wary about Adams and Finney-Smith. And if something does happen to KD (again, knock on wood and whatever other anti-jinx you want to apply), that will have been highly predictable as well.
Honestly, it makes sense. Very unlikely they will be bottom 4, so there pick is going to OKC. They can still win a decent amount of games with Garland / Manthurin / Leonard / Collins etc.
Rockets are standing pat. - Jake Fischer Rockets aren’t doing anything - Kelly Iko We aren’t doing anything. - Ime Van Gundy Help at point guard doesn't appear to be incoming, according to Udoka, who told ESPN the organization hasn't discussed adding at the position as the trade deadline approaches. Houston is hard capped, sitting at $1.25 million below the first apron. "We've always been confident and talked about our depth and relying on all these guys with Aaron [Holiday] and Jae'Sean [Tate] and guys that aren't playing as much. We felt we had a team three-deep at every position with Clint [Capela] at the backup 5. So, [adding help at the trade deadline is] nothing we were looking at. "We want to see what [Thompson and Sheppard] look like with a year of point guard play under their belt and getting Fred back eventually. For now, we want those guys to grow into that role." “…it's not like we expect to do a whole lot, if anything, and so for us it's not a big deal.” “…people are definitely calling about our guys. Let ‘em know we’re not trying to do much and it’ll all be better tomorrow for a lot of guys.” -Ime Van Gundy before Celtics game
A first round pick would have trumped their offer. Something like the Rockets top-16 protected 2028 first.
Stone really saw what this team looks like and sat there and did nothing… Why even trade for KD? this season is a waste, and we gotta hope that KD can replicate this level of production and health next season
The Bulls don't seem to think so, if they wanted a young prospect in return, who did the Rockets have? The only young prospect the Rockets have that fills that spot is Reed and this place would be on fire if we traded Reed for Ayo.
Maybe, but what if they wanted a young player back too? This is what I mean about getting mad at imaginary trade, we have no idea what the bulls specifically wanted.
That's wild they actually waived him. He can shoot it but he sure ain't helping our ball movement if we get him
