its such a bad trade. They locked up two at best 3rd options on huge contracts and worsened their draft odds in a great draft
He's finally decided to at least try to make the Jazz a serviceable NBA team instead of lottery-bound trash each and every year. I do agree with your skepticism though. Grizzlies made out like bandits.
Very hard to see the Jazz making the play-in this year. 3 firsts for a 2nd shot blocker to help Kessler cover Lauri.... now they need to spend 3 more firsts to get a 3nD rebounding guard
Man, the Jazz sure are investing a lot of money into two injury prone middling stars. It only makes sense to me if you truly believe Keyonte is him, because I view Lauri and JJJ as second and third options on a contender.
Once the Grizzlies trade Ja this'll be a supercharged rebuild. They pulled the plug earlier than expected and in doing so got max value at of 2/3 of their core. Pretty great way to blow it up.
Yea they did good, with the exception of holding on to Ja for way too long. No clue who even wants that dude. Too much money and headache for a super inefficient and often injured chucker.
Honestly at this point they don't even have to get anything for him. If they end up with someone young like Dillingham or Scoot and get like 1 pick or 2 they're golden. They already have Coward, Edey and a million picks to start with. We started our rebuild with KPJ and a dream.
Great deal for the Grizz - Those picks of course, and Clayton. JJJ is soft and overrated. He's a creampuff on the boards.
JJJ is a good player. But he's being paid like a superstar. Maybe Ainge finally accepted the reality that he's not going to get a top 10 player any time soon. It's better to be mediocre than halfway bad.
Turned out to be a heavy Consolidation trade due to Utah having too many decent but not great pieces. Dillon Brooks showed you do not necessarily need JJJ, all you need a guy who has potential and grit. That player might only get paid 24 million, at that time I thought Brooks cannot be redeemed. The Jazz need a Culture Setter and not a Stat guy that might or might not help them to a Play In spot. They do not play well consistently.
I dig Walter Clayton jr.....say what you will about the Grizzlies, they are the best drafting team since OKC..... Their stars just get injured or flame out after a good stretch.
