He can hate white people all he wants" - Draymond Green's recent comments have left fans fuming

It was a night of mixed emotions for the Golden State Warriors in their matchup against the Detroit Pistons, who, after a hard-fought battle, fell by 131–124 at the Chase Center.

It was an evening in which Draymond Greensurpassed the 8,000-point mark in his career, but also one that left a bitter taste, as Stephen Curry was forced to leave the game early.

A knee injury that has been bothering him for some time was clearly too much for the four-time NBA champion. In addition, the game was marked by an uncomfortable moment when Green got into an argument with referee J.T. Orr in the first half, resulting in a technical foul.

Nothing new for the Michigan native, many would say. However, his postgame comments completely overshadowed his milestone and an otherwise strong performance of 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists while shooting 50 percent from the field.

"I find it very ironic that I got a technical foul for telling a Caucasian referee not to put his hand in my face. As a Black man in America, don't put your hand in my face," Green told the media.

Fans were left fuming at Draymond
It was a reaction reminiscent of the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year, who in recent years has increasingly shown his frustration on the court through heated reactions, seemingly unable to calm his fiery temperament. Still, the comment did not sit well with fans, who did not spare him criticism after the game.

"This racist s— just ain't gonna fly anymore. He can hate white people all he wants, but the rules don't change because of his hate," was just one of many harsh comments on a post that went viral on Saturday afternoon.

Fans also accused the two-time Olympic gold medalist with Team USA of hypocrisy, pointing to what they describe as repeated incidents involving white players, citing examples such as Steven Adams, Jusuf Nurkic and Domantas Sabonis, while also recalling altercations with Rudy Gobert and Jordan Poole.

Some will say that Draymond is a true old-school player and that this is exactly what the league lacks today, someone who isn't afraid of making enemies on the court and who competes relentlessly, even at this late stage of his career, when it is evident that he is in decline and far from the elite defensive force he once was.

Others consider him a major reason why the final prime years of Steph's career may not be fully maximized, arguing that it is time for the Warriors to trade him, sparking numerous rumors.

Green needs to shift his focus on the court
Still, Green addressed his future with the Warriorsamid the speculation.

"If I'm traded," he said, per ESPN, "That's part of the business. I'm always willing to collaborate in any way I can," the Michigan native added.

Nevertheless, it is clear that Green, lacking the on-court influence he once had, is becoming increasingly frustrated, something that can directly affect the rest of the team. We have already seen tense situations, including one involving him arguing with Steve Kerr and leaving for the locker room during a game.

In difficult moments, especially with it becoming clear that Jimmy Butler will be out for the rest of the season, the last thing Kerr's team needs are incidents like these from Green, which distract from what truly matters – winning games.

He never struck me as a high IQ guy off the court. This just hammers home that fact.

Racist pig who did the whole slavery dance a decade ago, an insult to his ancestors. He should be suspended, imagine a white player saying this…double standard. I wouldn’t care if Draymond died at this point, he’s that much of a psycho to me.
