At least he didn’t mysteriously “shoot himself in the foot”. We should already have the SOP on running backs recovering from foot injuries. This one is known. I say buy on the lows.

It's a wasted pick IF he's no better than TooToo in coverage. It's also a wasted pick if he's good in coverage but gets blown up in the run game.

I absolutely agree with you, barring significant free agent signings.

Don’t think that’s the case with Golday, but it’s even worse if we waste a first round pick on a backer that is not as good as Golday too

Caleb Banks has been looking like a mutant. The knock on him has been his inability to stay healthy but he's a dominant force on the IDL. I think he'll be picked prior to #28 otherwise I'd be thrilled to take him there.

To get an idea of our needs I compiled the 25' PFF rankings for Texas starters that are under contract for 26'. Their ranking is followed by the total number of players at their position with sufficient qualifying snaps.

    QB
    CJ Stroud 31/38
    RB
    Woody Marks 45/59
    TE
    Dalton Schultz 16/75
    WR
    Nico Collins 7/128
    Jayden Higgins 48
    Jaylin Noel 56
    T
    Blake Fisher 27/86
    Aireonte Ersery 67
    G
    Jarrett Patterson 45/80
    Juice Scruggs 77
    C
    Jake Andrews 28/50
    DT
    Tommy Togia 10/129
    DE
    Will Anderson 1/119
    Danielle Hunter 5
    LB
    Azeez Al-Shaair 17/88
    Henry To'oTo'o 39
    CB
    Kamari Lassiter 7/112
    Derek Stingley 43
    S
    Jalen Pitre 4/91
    Calen Bullock 32

Based on what I just shared and NOT counting FA signings and trades, we can surmise our greatest draft needs.

    DT
    OT
    OG
    RB
    C
    LB

Of course, we could also throw in the QB position but there is no point for the purpose of draft discussion.

I'd be elated with this draft.

Lol I hope you don’t still pay for a list that has Stingley at 43

Golday can play. An instant upgrade, however the Texans need upgrades on the offensive side of the ball.

Not that I would do this but if they really wanted to upgrade the OL then do this.

    1-28 Kayden Proctor OT
    2-38 Keylan Rutledge OG
    2-56 Gennings Dunker OG
    3-67 Mike Washington RB
    4. Best blocking TE available, which there are several.

Stingley has the 43rd highest grade, that's why he's 43. He's had some terrible games.

I didn't include it as a top need because our starter, Schultz, has a relatively high rank and is returning.

I like Jonah Coleman at RB because he never fumbles and he's good in pass protection, according to PFF.

I like him but the knocks on him according to Draft Buzz is ball security and poor pass blocking.

Ball security can be fixed, this was a knock on Foster as an example. Washington doesn't appear to be bad at pass blocking and he's certainly got the frame for it. All RB's coming out of college could improve on their pass pro. It's like Draft Buzz needed to put down some negatives and went for the low hanging fruit.

Yeah, hes serviceable, he catches most balls thrown to him, but he doesn't threaten defenses down the seams and he's a terrible blocker which doesn't really fit with the type of offense Meco/Caley want to run.

Lol you can’t tell me you watched the totality of his performance and think he was 43rd best performer at CB. PFF is absolute garbage

I think you're misunderstanding. PFF gives DSJ the 22nd best coverage grade for 25'. His overall grade dropped him to 43 due to his very poor tackling grade. PFF isn't saying that he's the 43rd CB in the league, nor am I. Lassiter, for example, has a better coverage grade but we can surmise that Lassiter is drawing easier assignments that DSJ just like many CB's in the league. PFF assigns grades; they're not declaring who is the best. We must use some discernment and read between the lines, so to speak, when looking at PFF grades or, for that matter, statistics in general.
