This article is waaaay tooooooo long. Who the **** cares about Rockets having interest in Looney in the past lol. It would be funny if the Rockets trade for Kevon and keep Capela and Adams. That may send some posters over the edge lol. Technically DFS for Looney/Alvarado works. The DFS deal is non-guaranteed in the 3rd year, so you attach a couple of SRPs to the trade from the Rockets side and it's a good deal for NO.
I think Looney/Alvardo might have some legs. I think NOP are holding out for a FRP and I’m not sure Stone values Alvardo that highly. If we do go that route it should be our own 31 frp so as not to screw up the tradeability of our more valuable picks. Not sure NO will bite for something that far out. Adams is the best outgoing player since the salaries match up and Looney is signed for 2 years. (Looney is a better fit than Adams, anyway).
I don't see the Rockets giving up an RFP for Alvarado. He is a career back-up and that's likely to be his role as long as he is in the league. Minutes wise, you are probably giving him no more than 25 minutes a game, probably more in the 20 minute range, and that is not worthy of an FRP. NO can hold out, but ultimately, if they want to squeeze an asset out of him, they are going to have to trade him this deadline since I imagine Jose is going to opt out of his last year to find a longer term deal in the summer, so he is also could be a rental for the Rockets, which no way you give up an FRP for that.
As stated before, I don’t think they will give up a FRP either. I just outlined a trade that would work best, if they did cross that line. I don’t think the Rockets make a trade, unless it’s for a vet min contract. The most likely outcome is they sign a buyout guy for vet min. The only caveat I have to the no trades is if they have made up their mind they have to get an asset for Tari. I hope they don’t do that for any less than a decent pick in this upcoming draft (which I don’t think another team will do).
I mean .... if nothing else, he's better than nothing, not much but still, I think he could give you a few minutes of organized offense.
Why would we lock in a hurt 33yr old for the mle over the other available options. love Steveo but he’s been on the roster for 3 seasons and has basically been healthy for one season. We have to get off both of these guys and we are probably gonna have to pay to do that. please don’t sign any more old injured players.
Pretty nuts Vegas had us at 52 wins for the season. Rockets are on pace just half way through for 52 wins. Thought this was easy money for the over, but man so far its spot on.
Just thought I’d mention that after the Indiana game Rockets have a brutal schedule next 7 games. This is a very important stretch for this team. That’s why all those stupid losses against Kings, Hornets, Mavs, Blazers hurt this team badly. If they won 5 or 6 of those trap games they would be right there with OKC
Indy is not an easy out. Won 3 out of last 4. One on the road against OKC. Fortunately 4 of the next 7 are at home, where we are pretty good. Hopefully Durant didn’t travel with the team to get more rest for Boston. Also hope it is rest and not a real injury.
No games are easy but point is Rockets should win the games they’re supposed to and stop making it harder for themselves
The offense has gotten worse. Reed's inability to shoot lately is a big part. He was a big part of propping up the offense in November and early December. Though without him, it would still be the 8th-best offense in January. Still Top 10, but defense isn't as stout. I'd say KD is a big reason the offense is in the Top 10, but also that the defense isn't as good as last season. Rockets need to get Reed out of his funk and find a way to either improve the offense or the defense without him.
