By the old rules of Democratic nominations, Newsom fits neatly in the tradition of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama: younger, outsider candidates who could credibly run fresh campaigns against the Washington status quo of both parties while
claiming enough insider credentials to reassure party mandarins who care about such things.

Newsom is also the best-positioned Democrat according to the new rules of politics — namely, whether you are or
can become famous by breaking through on social media.

The newly-elected Trum, perhaps the most galvanizing political foil the country has ever known, picked a fight
with Newsom over the Los Angeles wildfires shortly into 2025. And then Trump elevated the governor further
by deploying the National Guard and active-duty Marines into the city by the summer.

Shortly after, Newsom lunged at opportunity to neuter Trump/Gov Wheelie's effort to re-draw Texas' voting map,
prompting a nationwide redistricting arms race. The resounding Prop 50 victory in Calif vaulted himself to the early leader
of the pack ahead of the sprawling 2028 primary.

Along the way, he has also been trolling Trump and his enthusiasts online by mimicking the thirsty and
capital letter-heavy style of the convicted felon.

 

Newsom is better than Trump and if he gets the nomination he has my vote. I also blame him somewhat for Trump. Newsom knew Biden was not up to the job and had done all the preliminaries for a run in 2024. Scared and lacking boldness he did not run. This lack of boldness and courage makes me concerned, despite some verbal trolling of Trump. His opposition to Trump gave him sending the storm troopers of ICE to California. as well as responding aggressively to Trumps gerrymandering It will takes decades just to reverse all the damage Trump is doing. if we have nice guy cautious Dems in their usual catering to the still content 1% or wealthier who provide the bulk of the donations to the politicos of both parties. Without boldness the new Dem president will lose their first midterm and we will be back to the same old crap. No more bs like the Dems following custom like obeying the Senate Parlamenarian. Frequent communication by the new Dem President and executive orders will be necessary to do popular measures like taxing the rich.

He was just a better option than Harris and I chose not to vote. You can't even be honest. If Newsom is the Dem candidate I will be first in line to vote against him.
