    Jack Smith, a life-long Republican, served as the Special Counsel for the DoJ from 2023 to 2025.

    Smith and his team brought two criminal cases against the Donald Trump in 2023.
    1. In the first, prosecutors alleged that Mr. Trump illegally held onto documents marked classified after the end of his first term in January 2021 and kept them at his South Florida property, Mar-a-Lago.
    2. The second case involved Trump's alleged efforts to hold onto power after he lost the 2020 presidential election to former President Joe Biden.
    Since being re-elected, Trump and his allies in Congress, Jim Jordan, Chuck Grassley, etc, have accused Smith of pursuing politically motivated cases against Trump in an effort to undermine his candidacy for a second term. Smith is the subject of investigations from congressional Republicans,


    Jack Smith calls Republicans' bluff with request to testify

    In a letter addressed to Jim Joordan and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee,
    said they felt “compelled to correct inaccurate assertions made by you and others” after it was made known that
    the FBI in 2023 analyzed the phone toll records of eight GOP senators and one Republican House member.

    “A number of people have falsely stated that Mr. Smith ‘tapped’ Senators’ phones, ‘spied’ on their communications, or ‘surveilled’ their conversations. As you know, toll records merely contain telephonic routing information — collected after the calls have taken place — identifying incoming and outgoing call numbers, the time of the calls, and their duration. Toll records are historical in nature, and do not include the content of calls,” the letter reads.

    “Wiretapping, by contrast, involves intercepting the telecommunications in real time, which the Special Counsel’s Office did not do,” it adds.

    Smith’s lawyers said the subpoena was limited to just four days, Jan. 4-7, 2021, focused on the time period around the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

    “The subpoena’s limited temporal range is consistent with a focused effort to confirm or refute reports by multiple news outlets that during and after the January 6 riots at the Capitol, President Trump and his surrogates attempted to call Senators to urge them to delay certification of the 2020 election results,” they write.

    Trump literally tried to overturn an election which is a treasonous act, and pathetic Democrats slow walked his prosecution.

    Joe Biden allowed Merrick Garland to basically do nothing for over 2 years to seem “impartial” or whatever…what a joke

    Listening to this hearing for a bit and I cannot believe some of you are proud to be maga Republicans. Some of the most brain dead morons on that side of the isle.

    You know it’s going abysmal for Republicans when they gave up on even asking questions of Smith and instead just rant about how terrible Smith and Democrats are without ever using any facts instead just yelling hyperbolic nonsense.

    It is all for theatre, but Jack held up perfectly.......................tramp needs new talking points for tomorrow so folks like TJ can spew sound bites on twitter filled with FAUX OUTRAGE over something that didn't actually happen, but it sounds good to the sheeple who can't think for themselves

    He's a Deep State operative for the Washington Cartel, whom you worship, in spite of them stealing from you and your family a significantly better standard of living.

    Plenty of Republicans are as corrupt as the entirety of the Democratic Party, excepting John Fetterman. Being Republican doesn't mean sh*t to me. I'm a registered independent, fwiw.

    @glynch being accused of worshiping the Washington cartel was not on my bingo card today. At least that guy is funny. Just hope he is kept away from firearms, or combustible materials. I wonder what that guy does for a living?? ICE agent would be my guess.
