I'll take your evasive response to mean that, yes, you absolutely support open borders and you absolutely support forcing your fellow Americans to be indentured into providing lifelong welfare for everybody in the world that feels like living here. I'm not evading anything. On the contrary, you are evading an honest discussion by refusing to define what you mean by "open borders". I have to understand what you are accusing me of believing before I can respond to it. It's the equivalent of me saying "Why do you support closed borders?" That's not a policy, and I have no right to accuse you of believing something right out of the gate, especially something that isn't well-defined. For the sake of argument I'll take a guess and assume you mean "open borders" to be zero physical barriers and zero federal/state operators in regards to border security. In that case, no, I don't support that. Do I believe that a 100% physical barrier for entire United States is a worthwhile project? Also no. Do I believe that what ICE is doing is a worthwhile project? Definitely no. I believe to minimize illegal immigration we need to focus on two things: 1) Helping promote stability in other countries around the world and 2) Fixing our incredibly broken immigration/naturalization process In short, if life in country X wasn't such dogshit and our immigration process were more fair and expedient we'd have a lot less illegal immigration. I do not believe that erecting physical barriers and shaking down randos on the street is a sustainable, let alone productive, way to manage immigration.
