Another reason most of the Giannis proposals in here are overpays is because 1/3 of the entire NBA is tanking and its early January, wait a few more weeks and it will get worse, the 2026 draft is so deep and it was a mistake to trade out of it by the Rockets. The Suns picks have tanked in value, you would have been much better off betting against a Nets team that stared Bridges. You will see some deals that look like teams are dumping contracts of decent players. There is potential for the opposite to happen from a couple of seasons ago where teams were overpaying for big names.

If you read on it is the silliest thing and classic Giannis - he essentially says "I would never ask for a trade, BUT my agent is his own person, I'm not the boss of him, I can't control what he says or does!" and "I"m locked in to the Bucks, AS OF TODAY"

I mean, he is and he can.

It's just kind of more of the same, really does seem Giannis doesn't want to be seen as disloyal to his US home city but also doesn't want to waste the rest of his career on a mediocrity treadmill, so this is what you get.

Call it what it is. Giannis is a liar (queue the Harden image on Daryl). Giannis is talking out of both ends.

His agent works for him. If Giannis doesn't want this to be a story, he can easily tell his agent to stop doing what the agent is doing.

At Giannis' camp request, they talked exclusive with Knicks last summer, but basically the Knicks said NO and didn't want to blow it up. Knicks want to give the current roster a shot this year. Giannis camp doing damage control after the news got leaked, and Bucks were now allowed to talk to other teams.

And that wife analogy in the recent Amick interview is just poor taste.

Sam Amick: The way your situation has been framed is that in the next few weeks, before Feb. 5, you have to decide whether or not you want out. Am I hearing you correctly that you have decided?

    Giannis Antetokounmpo:
As of today. You know how they say this thing about your significant other, or your wife, you always have to say, “As of today.”

o_O. Bruh.... Giannis, you can answer that question a million ways without your wife catching a stray. The fact that those thoughts are on the tip of his tongue, is more of a reflection on him.

Yeah Giannis is lying to get Shams off his back.

He may not ask for it but his agent will do it for him. He's technically not lying, but he's lying.

Sam Amick or Shams or Whomever: "Are you saying you are NOT asking for a trade out of Milwaukee?"
Giannis: "Absolutely! Unequivo... (ahem), unequivo... (ahem), er, without a doubt!"
Sam Amick or Shams or Whomever: "Will your agent make that request for you?"
    Giannis: "I have to go."
Agent (jumping forward): "No more questions, thank you!"

He would gladly waste the rest of his career on a mediocrity treadmill if the Bucks stick a 4yr/~$300M add-on to his current contract.

Other than the results on the court, I think Giannis loves his longtime setup in Milwaukee, which is why he would take the money, if offered. Dame Lillard took 2yrs/$120M from the hapless Blazers. Devin Booker 2yrs/$150M from the Suns. Those guys didn't even win a chip like Giannis has.
