Denmark has forces deployed worldwide to several NATO missions, UN peacekeeping operations, and the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. Denmark led NATO Mission Iraq from November 2020 until May 2022.

You played up Denmarks NATO contributions when in reality their military capabilities and ability to contribute to NATO are extremely limited.

If Trump gives a truly insane order like say ordering the Navy to seize a Denmark vessel, what will happen is the military brass will push back on it in a way that makes the White House have to prove the legality of such an order.

The reason I say this is because of the Maduro raid where it’s obvious that the military made them operate in a legal manner and that’s why this was supposed to be a “law enforcement” mission and Maduro was then given the right to a fair trial. I guarantee you that the White House did not initially order that Maduro strike as a DOJ arrest. That’s proof imo that people in the military are pushing back at some level.

So what happens with that scenario of seizing a Danish vessel… my guess is the Navy leaders don’t refuse the order but they do delay it long enough for people who have Trumps ear to change his mind on something as stupid as this would be.

Yes the military does obey, but there are still signs of legality checks and balances happening and an insane order (surely illegal) to attack a NATO ally would maybe not be disobeyed but I do think it could be delayed long enough to ensure it does not happen.

Again I think the real check and balance here with Trump, Greenland, and NATO is likely to be the ceos of Lockheed, Raytheon, Boeing, etc. I can see Trump telling almost everyone else to pound sand before he would tell off those handful of oligarchs.

 

Of course the US State department is going to highlight their contributions and fail to mention their limitations you dolt.
