On the whole, not right now. Too inconsistent with his handle, and his touch around the rim seems to come and go. But he does in almost every game flash ridiculous, unstoppable downhill capabilities, even in the halfcourt. He's too strong and too fast for most defenders to stop him 1-on-1, he usually just stops himself by losing the ball or missing the layup after he gets there. It's just a question of whether he can get consistent enough to make that part of his game efficient. And part of that is keeping defenders honest with his jump shot, even just from the midrange.
It doesn’t work like that in real life. For example, Durant, Reed among others take long 2s when they can get past their man who takes away the 3. Also Durant will make long twos more easily over a 3 at times. So it’s not like had he just shot a 3 instead that it would’ve lead to more points. Glad we got rid of this cornball.
I counted 13 potential 3 pt assists from Amen in the video before. They were all good reads to open players. We hit 3 of said passes. Amen is getting it done with drive and dish, now we just need our 3 point shooters to get back to their early season shooting. It’s all always been a work in progress and looked very rough the first 15 games or so, but the patience not to stop his progression as an initiator is paying off. If we want to trade for someone, make it another 3 pt shooting guard and let Amen and Sengun run the show. We should continue to let Reed have some turns trying to initiate for his development, but he should mostly be a spot up shooter unless he can overcome his inability to create one on one.
