In n Out fries absolutely SUCK because they are cooked incorrectly. Regardless of how “fresh” they may be. Fries have to be cooked once at a lower temp to cook them through and then a second time at a higher temp to crisp and lightly brown the outside. If you try to cook them all at once at one temperature you end up with the crap In n Out serves. That’s why frozen fries (that have been fried once at the lower temp) are vastly superior. OR fresh French fries cooked correctly at higher end restaurants or places in Europe (especially The Netherland and Belgium….where they were invented) are the absolute best! In n Out burgers may be acceptable, but call their fries what they are: partially cooked potato sticks.

I don't want to overhype it but the Pub Burger from Culvers (it's not offered at every Culver's) is around $8-9 by itself but it's one of the best fast food burgers around. Shakes are pretty good too. Though Shake Shack is one of my favorite go-tos.

I used to like Hardees but they too have gone downhill. There's a after taste they didn't used to have.

On a recent side note - I had the double smash burger from Sonic on the way to CO. Lets just say being on I-70 in the middle of KS after eating that was not a wise move. It was messy in more ways than one...

I have never seen a positive review of their fries and if I have a burger, I have to have good fries, the double double is really good, and they have good shakes, but I don't go as much because the fries suck.................last time I went I got the double double and a strawberry shake but a burger doesn't quite hit without the salty kick of the fries.

I'm sure I've said this before, but the locations in the country are still VERY good. The ones in the city are the ones that have gone downhill.

The only time I like Whataburger is when I'm on a Texas road trip.

Good to know about Culver's. I've seen them here and there when I travel and always wondered about them. Something about the color scheme or even the architecture screams "you will get very fat here," and I've avoided them so far. I'll try the pub burger sometime.

i eat at the william cannon culvers once every couple weeks. i drove by it for years without checking it out and i finally went there a few years back and was impressed. their prices are very fair compared to other fast food places and i prefer their burgers to just about any other ff place. my favorite ff fries too. and their culvers brand root beer is hands-down my favorite root beer. and their ice creams are great too.

my go-to is the double butter burger with cheese. with fries and a drink its only like $11.50 and like i said, better quality than most ff places. they must pay their employees decently too b/c they're definitely friendlier than most othe places.

i havent seen the pub burger on the menu, but ill look for it next time.

The #2 double meat meal is about $11. It'll be over $30 to get a double meat Whataburger, fries, and drink at the Stadium.

For those that don't know, you can bring any food into the Stadium that fits into a gallon size zip lock bag. No soda but you can bring an unopened bottle of water. Just pick up Whataburger on your way to the Stadium and bring it in.

Peanuts and beer. Maybe a hotdog if you're desperate. Eat real food before or after the game

I tried to be positive after they got bought by the Chicago PE firm....

All I can say is that at my location the quality of their burgers/fries (you know, the kind of stuff a burger joint is known for) has taken a deep dive.

The best thing they've done in the past few years was putting the "jalapeno/cheddar biscuits" on the menu full-time. Vastly superior to the regular ones.

Thought for sure this thread was bumped because of the kid working at Whataburger who would film burger reviews behind a Whataburger during his lunch break and pray over his food and/or say "Jesus loves you" at the end of his videos. I think he got fired by Whataburger for doing it (?). It's been getting a lot of pub the past few days.

More on-topic : yes, stadium food is overpriced and you're getting ripped off. Nothing has changed. Go stuff your face elsewhere! :D

The chicken tenders fell off for sure. Ate it and felt disgusted after.

Maybe it’s just me. But, I don’t want to sit next to some dude scarfing down a double meat whataburger out of his zip lock bag at the ballgame. Do your eating before you get to your seat please. Popcorn is fine. But, a full course whataburger meal one inch from me while I’m watching the Astros is not good for me.

    Maybe it’s just me.

I often grab Popeyes or Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches on the way to the stadium. Put them in zip lock bag before going through security, then take them right back out. They stay in the chicken sandwich sleeve, not raw dogging in the zip lock. I've forgotten to put them in a zip lock before and security didn't stop me.

We can coordinate next time to not sit together when I have my family with me. When I say 'let's go to a game!' they hear, 'guys, don't eat for three days and be ravenously hungry for $30 worth of food for $300 as soon as we get to the venue!'.
